    The VISES of Garage Journal

Nice score! I love the older RI with the scalloped tops. I am kicking myself about not picking one up a year ago locally that was a swivel jaw, swivel base.

    Interesting early vise

It's a cool looking vise. Agree with wrench guy about being marketed to the farmer that needed an anvil and vise. I wish I see them come up in my area for $7!

Lets see your vintage shop work lights

Shift- I got the vise bug about 2 years ago and have about 25. I do like the old shop lights as much as vises! It was several years ago so I am a little fuzzy on how I did it. I didn't know there was a decal under the paint. When I seen the lettering I believe I took it lightly with acetone...

That's definitely a Woodward shade on a flex arm. On mine, I found the decal under a few coats of paint and I as was able to salvage it. I doesn't say Woodward it says something like Detroit Machine Products. I think it may have been a distributor decal. I'll take a picture and post it tonight.

Shift, I found both of them at a flea at different times, no you **** prices. They were single arm versions but I was able to find extra arms on eBay when they would pop up. I had to machine a few parts for the posts on both of them so I could stack the arms. Other than that I stripped them...

Should this power tool be saved?

I would restore it as long as you can get it functioning properly with bearings etc. The aluminum on/off badge should polish up nice. Are the end cap housing's aluminum? If so, they would look great polished as well with the middle painted. It's up to you how far you want to take it.
