    Crack Filling

I too have ground the floor prior to epoxy coating and noticed many small hairline cracks. I thought the epoxy would seal them. Am I wrong?

    Virgin concrete prep?

I tried the water experiment allowing a drop of water to sit on the surface and its soaked right into the concrete. Therefore I must agree with Blinky. I do have some trowel marks that I’d like to clean up so I may rent a small grinder just to knock them down prior to coating. That’s why I...

Finished 2 coats of epoxy-coat (now with pics)

Doesn't Epoxy-Coat recommend only one coat? I just purchased one and a half kits to do my 660 sq ft garage and if I need two coats it isn't going to be enough. Did you do two coats becasue it needed it or was there another reason?

    Virgin concrete prep?

Well I placed my order yesterday with Epoxy-Coat, one and a half kits. I also ordered three extra pounds of flakes. I know its probably too much but I’d rather be over than under. I spoke to a young lady, Nicole, who seemed very knowledgeable. She recommended grinding the floor first, a...

Can you leave Air Comp Tank charged all the time ?

How do you guys attach your compressors to the floor? Anyone using insulating pads or just bolt foot pegs directly to concrete?

    Virgin concrete prep?

What is involved in diamond grinding the floor? There is a shine on parts of the floor indicating too smooth of a surface.

    Virgin concrete prep?

Does anyone here know what has to be done to virgin concrete prior to expoxy coating? The slab has been down for thirty days. There are no stains and I haven't driven on it yet. I wouldn't think I'd have to use cleaner maybe just light etching?

RayJay thanks man that's exactly what I've been looking for. Nice job on the resto. Did you have the body bead blasted or dipped prior to priming?

    frame dolly plans?

Yes Mikeyr it probably would but I'd like to have the dolley for future use also. If I have to I'll just put a strap around the front end and use my engine hoist to move it but I thought maybe someone would have a set of dolley plans.

    Easy Out Tool

The trick to using an easy out or any kind of stud removal tool is to drill the pilot hole dead center in the broken stud or bolt. A whole drilled off center tends to put the strain on the removal tool instead of the piece you’re trying to remove. Some of the newer tools provide a jig for...

    frame dolly plans?

I'd love to have a rotisserie but what I'm looking to build is something I can bolt to the front end of my mustang to move it from its temporary shelter to the garage once the garage is completed. I removed the front end about a year ago and then restoration ground to a halt.

Compression - Show Off Your Compressor

Still waiting to install after floor is in. This photo is the day I brought it home. They loaded it at H/F with a fork lift but when I got it home I couldn't figure out how to get it off. I jacked the front end of my buddy's S10 until the tailgate was about 6 inches off the ground and just...

    Work in progress

The garage floor will be poured over what used to be my blacktop driveway. There is four inches of stone that has been down for approximately 22 years so I'm sure its well packed but I take the advice since I can come by a plate tamper at no cost to me. Cheap insurance!

    Work in progress

No to the electric meter. There is conduit run under the floor to the outside wall of the garage. Everything is in place. I'm just waiting for Public Service to come out and move the main power lines. Also thanks for the vapor barrier recommendation. I'll pass it on to my contractor.

The framing is finally done. Now I'm just waiting for the slab to be poured. Lift coming in the first week in October so I hope I get concreted this week!

Whats your favorite tool you purchased in the last 6 months?

TP Tools blast cabinet. I had to have it shipped to my wife's shop so that I could use it until my garage is complete. It requires a minimum of 14 CFM to operate effectively and my Craftsman 20 gal compressor just wouldn't do. I'm putting a US General 7.5 hp 80 gallon compressor in the new...

    Wait time to epoxy coat?

Thanks for the quick response. The garage is complete except for the doors and the floor so drying too quickly shouldn't be a problem (no direct sunlight will hit the concrete).
