Thanks. Sorry about the photos. Maybe I’ll try taking a couple from a closer distance. Following up on the boxes. With exception of a very few planes, those I’ve found in their original boxes have typically been in better than just good condition. They’ve avoided paint splatters, dust/dirt...

crguy, I don’t buy refinished planes and I never refinish them. My users are all in top condition and are typically outfitted with their original parts to include period correct cutting irons. A relatively high percentage of the planes in my collection are still in their original Stanley...

It’s probably too late, but reconsider just leaving the patina alone. It‘s okay to let a one hundred year old plane look its age. Sharpen/hone the iron, lubricate where necessary, and start using it. Jim C.

    Craftsman Bicycle Tool Kit????

Never a problem Don. l’m always happy to help a friend. The wrench you have does look like a part of the set. Do you have the adjustable wrench? Do you need a model number for it? Jim C.

    Craftsman Bicycle Tool Kit????

Here you go Don. Three of the five wrenches have a -v- code, while the other two have a -vv- code. I don’t think any of these wrenches were ever used. As a matter of fact, none of the tools in the set look used. I do think it’s entirely possible that the set left the factory with different...

    Craftsman Bicycle Tool Kit????

You might want to include the spoke tool on the holy grail list. The spoke tool in my set is very clearly stamped ”CRAFTSMAN.” I think that might be a tough one to find. Jim C.

    Vintage Craftsman wrench holders.

Here’s my contribution to the discussion. These Cman wrench holders are tough to find in good condition. There was some talk about wrench holders for the Cman Whitworth DOE and DBE sets which were available from about 1960 to 1962. Each set had four wrenches and as far as I know there were...

I finished the set a couple years ago relying on the 1954 Craftsman catalog as my guide. I also had some input from several members here regarding the era correct tools to include and received some of those tools from the same members. (See photo below) It’s a nice set. Good job putting your...

    Delta DP 600 from WWII

Really nice restoration! I’m trying to figure out what you do with five Delta 17” DPs. You must have a big shop. Where’s the group photo? Jim C.

Over the years I’ve collected maybe a half dozen Autosets. While they’re not unusually rare, in general, they aren’t as common as some Stanley Bedrocks. A couple of the Autosets are very rare however. Again, generally speaking, it‘s been my experience that when I do find one its condition is...

I’m a relatively ********* Stanley collector, but will always make an exception for a good user quality, or better, Sargent Autoset. I just like the way they look. When set up correctly, they also deliver satisfactory results out in the shop. Jim C.
