    Fluke 87 LCD repair "kit"??

    I installed a "upgrade" kit to my Fluke 87 years ago (ordered from Fluke). I remember the screen was a greenish originally and the newer was a brighter/lighter grayish color. Also I believe the digits were slightly larger.

    A word about the wheels/casters on these......... I push one around at work (industrial maint), and decided to take the wheel bearings apart to clean them up. Bearings did not have much lube in them at all. Also tapped wheels to install standard grease fittings.

    Silicone

    Have been using wide tape (~2") folded over the tip and sealed to itself along the nozzle sides to keep airtight. Seen it as a tip in a woodworking magazine. Clear packaging tape works well.

    Striking wrenches?

    Used them a lot in engine & boiler rooms in the navy. Called them "slugging wrenches" back then. Best used on things that won't move around (solid big machinery). Lateral hammer strikes may cause havoc to things.

    Impact wrench repair

    We used these impacts to the point of failure where I used to work. We bolted in large molds in very large hydraulic presses (4000 ton). They held up well- just got used so much. "gofastman" has a good explanation for what to do. If I can add to how I have seen these wear.... They come...
