TIG Welding Advice - Cracked Transmission Tail Housing

Hey RancherBill, no link on your post?I'd be keen to know who it was. I've bought genuine ZF parts from an outfit in Coquitlam or somewhere in the lower mainland the last time I had my ZF5-47 out of the truck. I didn't notice any cracking at the time but maybe I didn't look closely...

    Between 705 & 1200 SQ/FT A new lease on life: 30x40 schoolhouse conversion

Sorry to hear about the snow ingress. Hope it works out. Owning a house can certainly be frustrating. I imagine that my house would be in a similar situation if we experienced a wind/snow storm. Judging by the amount of dust up in my attic, there must be quite a bit of airflow at certain...

    Between 705 & 1200 SQ/FT A new lease on life: 30x40 schoolhouse conversion

I was thinking more of your house. I'd hate to have that fine wind driven snow make it's way up into an attic of an insulated/finished building through the soffits. Could potentially make a big mess when it warms up and melts out.

    Between 705 & 1200 SQ/FT A new lease on life: 30x40 schoolhouse conversion

I will echo the others - that's crazy with the wind driven snow. I don't have much experience with that kind of wind and storms, I wonder if the snow gets drawn up into attics through sofit vents as well? That would ****..... Good luck with the cleanup, we are certainly getting slammed all...

My Enclosed Porch Thread - A project of continually expanding scope

Once again, thanks for bringing us along on this journey and especially for taking the time to document and even produce drawings to better explain the situation. I agree with above, hard to keep repairing when there are so many compounding issues. Better to demo and start fresh. The...

My Enclosed Porch Thread - A project of continually expanding scope

In. Patiently waiting for the next installment. It's always more fun to watch the archealogical dig through someone else's eyes than experience it directly myself....😀 Keep on keeping on good sir!

heating for garage 30x40x12 / what are my options ? 1200sqft

I just have to pile on here too with the eastern vs western debate 😃. What time zone does the majority of Ontario fall within......? Why, the Eastern Time Zone of course! Where I'm from (BC - the West), most of us refer to Ontario and Quebec as "Eastern Canada" and New Brunswick, Nova...

    Changing a Watch Battery

Screw down rear case? Don't have the correct tools? Me neither. Remove the watchband (if leather or textile). I superglue a 3/4" nut to the case. Let it dry (2 mins). Grab a wrench and turn the nut. The glue will hold. Replace the battery (as noted above, use gloves to ensure no oils on...

Above 1200 Sq/FT Garage build in South West B.C

You are planning on building out a suite eventually when zoning/bylaws permit, right? Will it just be a second floor or will you have living space on the ground floor as well? Just thinking fire break for building code requirements between the shop space and living space. If it's just a...

    Canada Only Deals!

Do you also own the Channellocks and if so, how do they compare? I need a new set to replace the no-name worn out pair that I have, but can't decide if I should pull the trigger on these or wait for a sale on the Channellocks.

    Above 1200 Sq/FT 45x30 W/Dual Lean-to's

Wow, how did I miss this? Welcome neighbour! I'm farther north than you, but grew up down your way and still know quite a few folks in South Country. Nice shop! Did you build it yourself or hire out?

    Heavy 10 Garage Build

The lathe popped up on a FB Marketplace search. It wasn't all that well listed but the price was reasonable given the current market and it was pretty rough/dirty looking in the pics so that may have deterred some potential buyers. I saw the ad about 1hr after it was posted (a Sat evening)...

    Heavy 10 Garage Build

Not sure how I missed your thread before but I was eyeing up that vise on FB Marketplace a few weeks ago! Small world! I see a friend of mine (Layback209) also posted here! Nice lathe! I'm currently going through a SB9 that I recently picked up not too far from you. Nice shaper you've got...

    Canada Only Deals!

That's a good deal. It looks like this could also function a bit like a pin spanner as well? I think I'm going to pull the trigger on this. I don't need it RIGHT NOW, but sooner or later I will come across a snap ring that stops me in my tracks......

Hey guy! Post up some pics if you are able. But I can already guess what this looks like. My SO is from Regina and I've spent lots of time there. You can walk through pretty much any neighbourhood, especially anything pre 1990's and find all kinds of similar examples. My SO grew up in the...

    Between 705 & 1200 SQ/FT Build Thread: 20x40x12

I've had similar issues lately with both brass and stainless fittings purchased from my local hardware stores. I've used a combination of teflon tape and pipe dope and it seems to be working. The threading on these cheap plumbing parts seems to be poor. I think the tooling or dies are worn...
