    Packing up garage, any tips?

I feel your pain. We rented a Pod for the last move. Several weeks before they dropped it in front of my garage (it's at ground level - minimal lifting) and i loaded stuff at my leisure. They dropped it in front of my new garage on moving day and i unloaded also at a leisurely pace.

PVC, Cedar, Pine? What trim did you use?

I used 5/4 rough sawn pine for mine. I used transparent white stain on all edges pre-install and another coat on exposed surfaces after. It has help up very well though it is not as white as it once was.

Can this "butcherblock" top be fixed

Once the loose joints have been re-glued a simple jig and a router can be used. I did a quick search and came up with this video - i'm sure there are more. Now i guess it's time to get that maple desktop out from behind the shop and try it myself, i guess ....

    Thoughts on deck coating

Was at Lowe's yesterday on other business and asked the girl at the paint counter about the "restore" product as I'd like to coat the dock before it gets bad plus i like the anti-slip nature of it. So, $60 a US gallon - each gallon covers about 30 square feet and the dock is about 8' x 35'. You...

    overlay asphalt driveway

Would it help if it was curbed also ? In my mind the biggest problem with asphalt is that it migrates and that's what causes most cracks / failures.

How do you run a water line to a slab on grade building in the north?

This pertinent to my interests as it is the first project after the thaw (if that ever happens). 4' is deep enough here and going through the basement wall is no issue at all but coming through the slab at the shop may be. I may go through the concrete at and angle to keep the line as deep as...

    Shop Bathroom

I've got a urinal in the corner emptying outside. The Mrs. sewed a curtain that hangs on a piece of bent sc40 for some privacy and some 12x12 ceramic tiles in the "splash zone" that a neighbour had left over. We have a guy coming in to dig a waterline to the shop this year if the frost ever...

Resurrecting an old thread here. Just working on our leaky basement now - the house was moved here in 1935 and we have a very high water table ( lakefront property ). Does anyone have experience with the water powered sump particularly the Liberty one i see online at Amazon ...

    Public Service Announcement

Folks - If you haven't done so yet this year get out to the shop and do some snowblower maintenance. I suppose i should have sent this months ago or at least done the maintenance on the two that are in my shop now. Mine will be fine now. Neighbour is waiting for parts for his, though.

Drill Doctor 400 Try it you'll Love it

"You cannot push on the chuck while turning." as above is the key here. It's not meant to remove huge amounts of metal - it's designed for the fine tuning of bits IMHO. I remember Dad had one and always pushed so hard he wore the stone to the point where it was useless. Saw them on sale at...

How do you keep mice out of your garage?

Apparently peppermint oil on a piece of kleenex or a cotton swab around any potential entry points will work without the worry of the local cats eating a poisoned mouse. I'm trying it in the bunkhouse this winter - a few drops in the cabinets just in case. I'll let you guys know if the winter...
