1920-60s DELTA / ROCKWELL picture thread - Post your Delta!

One of Delta's mysteries to me has been their "Gray Line" of tools. I've seen enough of these water slide decals on 1930s machines, but cannot find any supporting literature from Delta explaining what it represents. Here is a tilty for sale in my area with a "The Gray Line" water slide decal...

Delta drill press in an upcoming estate auction - need help in identifying info about it

@WinR as @Packard V8 said, pass on this one and wait for another 14-in Delta drill press. DP220s are everywhere so no need to settle. The weight on this thing is going to make it problematic to move.

Delta drill press in an upcoming estate auction - need help in identifying info about it

@WinR that is a 1946 DP 220 14-in drill press mounted on a production table. Be advised that the table alone is over 200 lb. Here it is in the 1944 Delta catalog. The table top was also sold in sections, an end piece and a center piece so that you could combine for a crazy long production...

@Tarnished you did indeed see Delta Wheels in cast iron. They preceded the retractable casters. Post in thread '1920-60s DELTA / ROCKWELL picture thread - Post your Delta!' https://www.garagejournal.com/forum/threads/1920-60s-delta-rockwell-picture-thread-post-your-delta.491552/post-9443087

On my retractable casters I wanted to find a suitable replacement for the wheels as several were chipped pretty bad. The original wheels were phenolic plastic. I got a set of rubber wheels delivered from McMaster-Carr that were 1 5/8 x 3/4 -in. Here they are in comparison: Here is one...

For sure I would track down the top disk cover for your sander brother. Having that disc flying around at 1700+ RPM unprotected is asking for trouble.

1920-60s DELTA / ROCKWELL picture thread - Post your Delta!

@Tarnished I sold the disc sander that I've had for several years as my space is at a premium. I kept the sander that I recently acquired for a couple reasons. Both the stand and motor were in better condition, and the motor was 1/2-in longer. I kept the dust chute and retractable casters...

Very close. Similar to the Ace hardware machinery gray. I recently sold one of my 12-inch disc sanders, and sprayed the on-off switch and capacitor cover with the machinery gray. This was how close it was in comparison to the original Delta color on the motor band.

@Jlanciani helluva job you did. Your paint job, particularly the pulley guard is top tier. What color did you go with?

For the second time since September I've been able to find an original Delta foot feed. Pictures are as I brought it home. Foot feet is 100% complete with all original hardware intact. Im always excited about accessories, and the Delta repulsion induction motor was hooked up to an...

1920-60s DELTA / ROCKWELL picture thread - Post your Delta!

Made some progress on my disc sander. The custom color I had mixed turned out terrific. The motor band is original Delta, the capacitor cover, all the cast iron on the disc sander and the on-off switch were all painted. Much better than the royal blue. I flipped the motor around as well.

@Jehannum nice job so far on the paint. Do you have room for it in your workshop?

Wow, at that price and with those accessories I'm half tempted to drive to Ohio from SoCal myself. If it had the metal cutting gears I probably would! The bandsaw cast iron pulley guard is really tough to find in the wild. Interesting that it has one as the serial number indicates 1944, about 2...

1920-60s DELTA / ROCKWELL picture thread - Post your Delta!

Here are some pictures of Delta's outstanding retractable casters. These cast iron feet would fit inside the feet of the steel stand and be secured by the visible screw. The cam is on the short side and so the foot rests on the surface. When the foot pedal is turned, the cam rotates to the...

@GeoBruin outstanding contribution. I do believe that's our first Delta vertical mill. Were you able to date that via the serial number? I don't think Delta even offered a vertical mill until the very late 50s if not the early 60s. Nice job on that.

My newest 12-in disc sander had some random painted areas of yellow and royal blue and I decided to refurbish and paint the entire thing except the motor band. When I got the motor apart to replace the bearings it became clear to me the sander wasn't used much and was well cared for. I kick...

@BuffettFan very nice, I can't say I've ever seen a Baldor motor model called "Baltric" or one that was "Streamcooled". If it works, it works! Thank you for for sharing brother.

@BuffettFan nice to have a wife that helps you find vintage Delta! That Unisaw has some seriously uncommon accessories. The goose egg cover and especially the blade guard are getting harder to find. Original goose egg covers go way north of $400, even the reproductions are getting expensive. Can...

@Jgaz nicely done brother, I would have bet a lot of money you would have never found an exact duplicate of that screw except on another miter gauge.
