    1/2" torque wrench over 250 ft/lbs?

Yep. This ^^ I made a 42" extension for my 3/4 tq wrench and set it to 450 to get some pinion nuts to 1100ft lbs.

Talk to me about Tire Balancers, Whats required?

Also don't have answered but curious as to why when a tire shop is in most cities....? I built a static balancer of sort; hub on roller bearings because I needed to balance 2 piece rims with 46" tires (300#) which were out of scope for tire chain stores.

An industrial version of a pick up crane

A valid concern. If you're in a production facility, that crank & jack is going to get old real fast. Buy a jib crane, from your local overhead bridge crane suppler. Here's Gorbel. Most of the literature is going to be for foundation bases but you can mount it to your table all the same (obv...

    The DeWalt Addiction Thread

I'm a hobbyist & run a side-hustle. Traditionally, I have corded 4 grinders at the ready to avoid changing wheel types. I got the 20v cordless a few years ago and I would absolutely recommend it for small tasks. The quick change (by hand) nut is awesome, though that might be a standard...

    Compressor Automatic Drain

I have a cheapo like the one above and it has been working for 5+ years, my tank is 150 psi. Maybe your tank is old with a bunch of rust flaking off...? I plugged mine into a switched outlet. When I turn on the shop lights, the compressor drain/vents. I also exhausted it through the wall to...

    (Sheet) Steel Suppliers in Denver?

Metal supermarkets messed up so many of my orders, I stopped going there. Plenty of online stores fulfill the onesie/twosie small orders, right to my door. Onlinemetals Speedymetals McMaster Shapirosupply Metals4uonline

    (Sheet) Steel Suppliers in Denver?

Altitude is good if you need something on Saturday, just sayin... (don't have a clue if they sell sheet or deliver; I use tubing and pick stuff up myself) Last time I bought sheet goods, it was almost the same price to have Dencol cut my pieces as the raw material by itself.

    Gantry crane/car lift

I have a gantry; sounds sketch AF and I wouldn't work under a suspended load. You can get some portable car or truck lifts. Roll them into the corner when you're done.

Air Compressor / second tank question

Very nice! I had a very similar experience, minus the explosion, upgraded a 20+year old oil less Craftsman to a Quincy. If you don't have any leaks in your plumbing, that's great. For the rest of us mortals, I have a suggestion... I put a 110vac ball value on the output of my compressor wired...

    Pressure pot blaster suggestions

I started with the Eastwood when I had to blast a truck frame outside. Shortly afterward, I bought a used blasting cabinet that came with a pressure pot like the one Larry posted above. My pressure pot has a foot pedal valve which is much easier to work than the Eastwood hand grip. I remember...

    Good tube bender?

I have the JD32 but I would also recommend the Rogue fab bender. Seems very comparable just horizontal vs vertical bending. I had to do some vertical bending so I just welded up another attachment to my table for the JD32 bender. I'll echo everything above.... I went with air/hydro from the...

Point load for I-beams - I'm building a bridge crane

I understand the point you're making about how the beam in question is approaching non-compact/slender but how did you calculate that max load? Even intuitively, it seems absurd, doesn't it? A wood 4x4 can handle a large person standing in the middle. Mcr for a W12x19 at 14ft span is 40...

Beginner question on removing mill scale

Sure thing, I use the 36 grit 4 1/2" disc https://www.3m.com/3M/en_US/p/dc/v000587556/ But, there's a whole mess of different options: https://www.3m.com/3M/en_US/p/c/abrasives/brushes/bristle-discs/

Beginner question on removing mill scale

Yep. This. These are my go-to for mill scale. Contrary to what you might think, they're quicker than a flap disc too.

    DIY chrome plating.

It's my understanding that chrome plating is a big health hazard - thus pricey. Due to regulations, I don't think there's a local chrome plating shop in Denver anymore. My local zinc (and other) plating place has a $200 minimum. I have a Caswell zinc kit and have plated a lot of small parts...
