    The DeWalt Addiction Thread

Doh! I thought this was the deals thread after I clicked my notifications... I'll repost a deal on a portaband in the deals thread. Carry on!

    Dewalt Deals

2/10, do not recommend. When you need it, you need it but it's hot garbage. I replaced mine under warranty and the replacement chuck slips. I assume something in the gearbox is plastic but I haven't opened it up to find out. I try to baby mine when I need to use it, I would reel in your...

    Above 1200 Sq/FT LilScorpion’s Fab Space

Can't wait to see what you come up with! I've been wanting to make some kind of lathe tooling rack.

    Caulking Gun Question?

One more vote for dripless and both of mine have a switch to turn on/off the dripless feature. I have the all plastic ETS3000 and I like it more than the metal SI300. I needed the metal one with a higher thrust ratio to push some thicker sealant. But, in dripless mode with the SI300, the...

    HF Series 3, 42" Drawer Mod Question(s)

Subscribed. Would like to do something similar, change out the larger drawers in the bottom for shallower drawers.

Unpopular opinion - mayhew prybars are just ok

This is funny considering spring steels actually have a pretty high modulus of elasticity.

    Costco Feit shop lights

I installed 12 of these in my 600 sqft shop 7-8 years ago based on recommendations from this forum. I added 2 more shortly afterward. No failures. I've recommended them multiple times to friends & family. 10/10

    Weld Callout Question

Disclaimer: I'm a dumb engineer. 18 years designing things that showcase that I know nothing. I designed something similar to this at work (aerospace ground support) and didn't know how to call out that weld. After discussing with the fab shop, I called out a fillet and they welded it up.

    Above 1200 Sq/FT LilScorpion’s Fab Space

Brother, if you're a hack, the rest of us should just quit now! I typically blow the chips off the bed of the mill after each use and put the cover over the mill. However, I sweep the chips to the side of the base, back towards the wall. This is the longest I've gone without cleaning up that...

Goood laaawd! This is incredible. I thought a 3d printer would be fun for all my day to day garage shinanigans but this is cray.

In the Market for a Laser Level

Sub'd to see more.... I have a Dewalt self leveling 2-axis, green, and it's been good enough but I have definitely yearned that 3rd axis a few times. I have seen a lot of recommendations for the cheap/amazon 3-axis for prices that seem too low to be real (like $40-cheap). I wonder if the...

Cutting square/rectangular hole in sheet metal

If I had the material, I would use a jig saw. If I had to buy materials, I would just order the part. You're looking at $9-14 +SH depending on material from sendcutsend. Free shipping if you can figure out a couple more parts to buy. 20ga is thin, like, condom thin. I'd suggest going...

Hand-tools only tool cabinet? (sockets, ratchets, wrenches, drivers, torx, nut drivers, torque tools, etc) No 'junk' drawers...

I've been in a similar wishlist but too poor for Lista or the like. I think ordering replacement drawers from HF would be viable but I can't find replacement drawers on the website. I thought I found replacement drawers available to order online but maybe that was for the Series 2. How much...

    Help drilling holes

Doesn't have to be perfect? Just go gitrdun! I don't enjoy it but drilling 1/4" mild steel with a hand drill certainly isn't the end of the world that some people are eluding. Drilling from both sides will probably be simplest but will only be as good as your layout. Use a scribe for laying...

Using a mill as a drill press for wood?

I have a Bridgeport & I gave my benchtop drill press to a friend years ago. For the mill, I just screwed a short piece of plywood (2" x 12") in the middle of a larger piece of plywood (15" x 15") in the shape of a shorty T. I clamp the small piece in the vise and the platform is close enough...

    Swivel/rotation lock mechanism?

I have no solutions but I can help get the ball rolling with some questions. Is this a rigid box that things can be mounted to or a carboard box without structure? Can you set the box on a tray and have the tray rotate and lock? Does the angle have to be infinitely adjustable or would some...
