    Questions about Decks and Footers

I don't see any reason to put any knee or X bracing. There isn't any now and it stands just fine. If it wasn't for the lack of care from the previous owner the deck would be fine. It is mounted to the house and I intend to use 2x10s for the underside and at 16" spacing. The ground posts are...

    Questions about Decks and Footers

So the deck on our house isn't in the greatest of shape and, while not dangerous, is in need of replacement. I've helped build some decks in my past but they have always been on ground level/just slightly off the ground. Our deck is on a slight angle which will require the support posts to be of...

    Good Fan Clutch Tools?

I know that, but the unit I paid the deposit on was pretty new and only one of the wrenches could be used as far as I could tell. Wasn't worth the 30 mile drive back to purchase a brand new one.

    Good Fan Clutch Tools?

I borrowed the one from o'reillys (after the one from advance did not work at all) and found it was good enough to not bother returning. I called them and asked to keep it and they said sure thing and just left the $49 charge on my card.

    hand cleaner

I got some fast orange under the sink. It's fair. Once I use up what I've got I'll be buying something different; but it's not bad enough that I will ditch what I have left to change.

    Pics of everyones garage/workbench setup

Here's mine. The other garage bay is empty unless I'm working on something. Bunch of rakes and shovels and such hanging on the wall, but I didn't take any pictures.

    Tools you've found

Craftsman Robo-Grip in a ditch. That's the only tool I can recall actually finding out somewhere. I have several tools in my set that I can't recall where or how I came about having them, but I don't think I just found them.

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

Re: what did you do in your garage today? Fixed the grass catcher on my john deere so it doesn't fall half off the back everytime the bag gets full or I hit a bump.

When have you broken a craftsman tool?

Broke a 19mm socket trying to break loose a crank bolt with a 18" breaker bar and a 3' jack handle on the end. I was bouncing up and down on it when the socket cracked down the side. No surprise it broke, but sears replaced it no questions asked.

Shower in Garage a good idea?

My washer and dryer is in my garage so I just leave my dirty clothes in the "shop clothes" hamper in the garage. I wash my hands then go shower upstairs. If I had the room/plumbing ability I would love to have a shower in my garage.

    Hand cleaning tip

I use Fast Orange if I'm really grimy and greasy, like after working with wheel bearing grease or gear oil. For just general dirty garage hands I use dawn dish soap.

    Reciprocating saw suggestion

I have had the Dewalt DW938K 18v unit. I've used it for several years and it is a pretty decent unit. It has plenty of power but def. lacks the smoothness of operation that the Milwaukee.

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

Re: what did you do in your garage today? Changed oil, air filter, brake pads and rotated tires on my wifes car. Serviced the mower to get it ready for cutting season (sharpened blades, changed oil, cleaned out deck) and removed the television components from an old floor tv that is in the big...

    need key for HF cab

I bought a set of ~$15 auto-jigglers when I was helping repo a few cars and you can use one of them to pick any simple tool box or masterlock in less than a minute. Well worth the investment after a little bit of practice.
