    Story behind your toolbox?

My girlfriend (now wife) and I had just moved into a townhouse with a two car garage. I had taken a set of wood and steel shelves from my moms house and made a makeshift workbench. I still kept most of my tools in a tool backpack (which is AWESOME for anyone in college) or just laying loose on...

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

Re: what did you do in your garage today? Went through a couple grinding wheels trying to polish up and flatten out the piece of railroad I'm making into a little light duty anvil.

    need 1 breaker bar

I'd go with a 24" 1/2 breaker bar. You can always put an adapter on it for a 3/8" socket.

What's everyone pack their lunches in?

Normally I go out to lunch but on days I eat in the office (days I have Court) I just throw it in a grocery bag and put it in the fridge. On days we go to the range I put it in a soft side cooler my wifes company gives away.

let's see what everone's got in their hutch

I've just got a Craftsman so not much of a hutch there either, more like a drawer that lifts up rather than pulling out. Mine has a whole hod-podge of stuff. Copper pipe cutter and sweating equipment, locks, tape measures, tire plugging kit, reference book, soldering iron and butane torch...

I see yours was a firestorm from your pic. I'm sorry you didn't have good results from it, but I've been very happy.

All loaded down it weighed close to 80lbs. but it never broke through or gave me any problems.

    Let's see your cordless drills

Funny you should post that. I just pulled a regular black & decker 18v out of the toolbox in my truck and it was cracked and destroyed. As for the Firestorm, it has built 15 decks and remodeled my house with zero problems or hiccups. The base model was junk but I would gladly use the...

    Craftsman Backpack

I kept this CLC Tool Backpack in the pack of my Supra and then my Corvette the entire time I was in college. It made many a trip to autocrosses and track days as well as "scenic drives" through the countryside. All the tools actually filled about 3 drawers in my new box. I passed it on to a...

double open ended wrenchs worth keeping?

I had several that came with various craftsman tool sets I've acquired over the years. I ended up giving them away to a 15 year old who was just getting into wrenching but his family couldn't afford to help him buy any tools.

    A rather unusual multi-wrench

My mom has had one of those floating around her garage for the last 15 years. A neat novelty but more trouble than its worth to use.

    Keeping my tools clean

I use Spartan SD-20 to clean my hand tools, workbench, shop stool, non-moving vise parts, etc. Anything that doesn't require lube it will clean and it won't harm paint/finishes. Let it foam for a few seconds and wipe it off, great stuff. Sticker residue, gone. Grease, gone. Love it.

Tax time… how much did you spent on tools

I don't wrench for a living, but I"d guestimate about $750 this year.
