if you have 2 steps up to a landing in the corner with a winder. where the winder comes to a point needs to be a min of 6". From there your a straight shot to the 2nd floor 17 risers @7 13/16" 16 treads @11"

a 2x10 will span just over 16' at 16" on center. Lumber is cheep right now, go 2x12 16" o.c. Cover it with 3/4" plywood glued and nailed

I quoted a 24x30 for 38k. All depends on what you want and the materials you plan to use. Building materials are down right now.

Get a few quotes, I have a few guys I work with and there is a large differance in there price depending how buisy they are.

I would suggest Azek brand decking with Cortex screws. Ohh and they make it in white

ditch the primed trim for Azek pvc, also put arch roof shingles on. They will last alot longer

If your house has a stick framed roof then you can add a ridge beam and then remove the coller ties. The beam would have to be engeneered. Not terribly difficult but I do this every day.

Re: Replacing "W" trusses with scissor trusses to allow for more height for a car lif I have done it, glue and scab some 2x10's on to the trusses. then bolt a 2x6 to the top plate to help support it. then cut out the truss

once the beam is sized your local steel supplier can fabricate one with holes predrilled. bolt some 2x's in there and hang your joist off that.
