    I need a new chuck, JT33

Well given the nature of your machine you're not looking for extreme accuracy so I'd say your Amazon plan is good. I'd be sure to put a dial indicator on the arbor sans chuck and make sure there's minimal runout

Battery Jump Box - NOCO is a no-go

Sometimes the Audew goes on sale on their website. I gave up on Amazon, seems impossible to get them there anymore. 'Tis the right time of year for sales.....

    Sandvik ????

When I was in school circa '07 I thought the Kennametal rep told us Sandvik was THE largest insert manufacturer, with Kennametal being #2 I dunno if it was shady but Kennametal sponsored our program just like SnapOn might with automotive or Science Diet does with veterinary. Smart move, get...

    Ergonomic Alternatives

The M12 die grinders get rid of that hose but are more bulky and of course weigh more tool-only vs tool-only HF used to offer an air file which I have. I honestly don't know if they still offer it. I don't use it much but always thought the concept was fantastic for quickly opening up small...

Mountain or Icon for XL Ratcheting Wrenches

And honestly I'd get the Tekton 6pt flex heads and just call it a day. Plus warranty support will be second only to a tool truck that will bring it to you. I've also got the Carlyle flex heads and wished I never had. Not crazy about the spline drive, the reversing button always gets knocked...

Mountain or Icon for XL Ratcheting Wrenches

Actually I have the Cman-badged GW (used to be able to get them at phenomenal prices on the random Sears sales) and the beam is so thin that it a) cuts into your hands and b) flexes considerably when trying for aforementioned gorilla mode with the fixed box end. It's so thin even if you're...

Do I need compressed air throughout my shop?

I really only have air along one wall which is the lift bay. I run hoses across the floor from hose reels to my mills, which is kinda dumb. All I really need air for is blowing off machines, inflating tires, and the air hammer. Actually, plasma, too Personally I think you're right to scale...

    Un-Attended Battery Charging - - Caution

If anything I'd be worried about the stupid battery in my MiFi ("jetpack", air card, whatever marketing term you wanna use) I keep replacing them but they all swell with time

    edwards 40 ton ironworker

RPM may be the trickiest to match. I'm not certain what ironworkers require. At least it shouldn't need to be reversible so that would make a 1ph conversion a little easier. Still, I'd also look at RPC or VFD as suggested. If you don't want to build an RPC from scratch the "DIY kits" where...

    Milwaukee vacuums

My "tech" to fix the new 0880's Post in thread 'The Milwaukee addiction thread! :)' https://www.garagejournal.com/forum/threads/the-milwaukee-addiction-thread.244666/post-8691415 Post in thread 'The Milwaukee addiction thread! :)'...

    Milwaukee vacuums

Milwaukee redesigned the 0880 and only made it worse as far as getting the hose off.....and you frequently need to remove the hose because their engineers brilliantly combined a right angle bend (due to new design) and a bottleneck (at the hose fitting) right next to each other. Good job...

Making slab thicker for a vehicle lift

I also had them do a rectangular "trench"....it was actually like 12" thick LOL. It was a little larger than the overall footprint so I had a little wiggle room. Not necessary but we were pouring from scratch so not a big deal. Just be certain you're getting a level slab. It can be difficult...

    Short Run Production!

Not entirely related but the worst of both worlds is a "hybrid" where you can load programs or allegedly turn the handles yourself. You've got NO feel and that's a HUGE deal - imagine driving a car where you couldn't feel acceleration, braking or cornering. Anyway....not helpful.....but let...

looking for 27" bottom roller tool cabinets with individual drawer latches, lit or slide type.

Homak is a copy of the Griplatch by Craftsman/Waterloo. If you can find the original Griplatch from early 2000's it's awesome, later models had a lighter, cheaper feel. I have a 26" Griplatch lower that got moved to school several semesters and to several jobs (as a machinist). Still use it in...

Who makes the new Duralast tools?

My annoyance with Duralast is the consistent change. Find something you like now, it won't be around in a few years. Also makes warranty problematic, if you care about that.
