Gun cabinet in garage... in a humid state?

Slight backstory... I want to build my own gun cabinet. The cabinet will not be fireproof, waterproof or air tight, so I would venture to guess a dehumidifier would have to work nonstop in my application if it was in the garage. That being said, here it goes.... Does anyone in a humid area...

Hog ring anvil VS pin anvil?

After yesterday's flat tire I've been looking at a tool to remove lugs and make it easy in case the better 3/4 has a flat when I'm not around. I'm a Dewalt guy, so naturally that's what I'm looking at, but theres 2 main styles that pop up, hog ring and pin. Which one is better, and why? Second...

1/2" wood screw with fat head?

I'm looking to attach 1/2 inch plywood with a screw through 1/8" steel angle. Without recessing a "V" into the thin steel to fit a standard screw, what options do I have? I found a Simpson strong tie that has a huge flat head but nothing that's 1/2 inch long. Pic of that below. Any of you have...

Who re-used and re-cut wood in order to build a garage?

So, a local lumber yard that I service has a large pile of wood at the north end of the yard. I'm guessing that it's when a lumber stack falls over they pick it up with their big fork trucks and dump it in the back. The pile is so huge that I was debating if it would be worth it to grab, haul...

Where do you get your bolts?

I just saw a great YouTube video of a storage container build that I'd love to tackle one of these years, but it gets the question, how much money would I have to spend to get a decent supply of nuts and bolts... I suppose I could do the green thing and salvage some big items from the garbage...

Uses for glass baby food jars?

Having a 9 month old we go thru 3 jars a day currently of baby food, we saved a good few of them so we can make our own baby food and such, but other than the standard nut and bolt organization, do you guys use glass jars for anything else? Whether its baby food jars, pickles, jalapeno jars, etc...

How did you decide how tall to make your garage?

The title says it all. Growing up my old man had a standard 8 foot wall garage, along with everyone else. It's all I ever knew. I'm very VERY early in a design phase for a new garage, and I'd like to make it taller but when the better 3/4 asked why I didnt have much to say. I do want a 4 post...

What's a good horizontal metal band saw

Sorry, I'm sure this has been discussed but couldn't find anything. I'm wondering what is a good brand of horizontal metal saw. All I see on local craigslist is the HF model. Not sure if it's worth it or not but wondering what else is out there that's worth while... thoughts? Sent from my...
