How to reduce rain spatter on garage doors

That awning is pretty cool. Just not sure it would fit in with the design. We'll take a look. Thanks. Artificial grass huh? If you could put a strip in that was gray or black in color to blend with the concrete maybe. Most any other color would look tacky. I guess if we know there's a storm...

How to reduce rain spatter on garage doors

Have you guys figured out a way to reduce rain spatter coming off concrete? Our garage doors get dirty relatively quick. Living in the Pacific Northwest, it doesn't take long. Would stamped concrete help? Or any other ideas would be much appreciated.

Difficulty in tracing air piping leak

So I took the advice of several members and bought some air leak detector solution. That worked. Two fittings were found to need additional thread tape. I've checked all fittings four times since and no leaks. Tested the system overnight and air pressure dropped around 6 psi. I'm calling this...

Teaching myself to TIG weld - possible?

I would start with steel; then progress to stainless. Leave aluminum to the last. It's more challenging from a heat perspective. Best of luck

Difficulty in tracing air piping leak

There's enough slack in the tubing to pull the distribution blocks out from the wall to gain access to the fittings. No drywall will need to be cut. No elbows were used in this install. Thanks for your question.

Difficulty in tracing air piping leak

Thank you for your experience. The aluminum sleeve inside the tubing may be the achilles heal to this system. The tubing is inside the walls with insulation so I hope it will minimize expansion and contraction. Virtually all the fittings are accessible even after drywall. No elbows were used...

Difficulty in tracing air piping leak

The leak detection solution sounds like a great idea. I will check out Amazon. Thank you. As for the water test, it could be challenging since we have not connected water at the garage yet. But the idea is a good one. I will try the leak detection solution first. Thanks for the great ideas...

Difficulty in tracing air piping leak

I did test the air compressor independently overnight and that is correct the pipes were not under pressure during that particular test. As far as the hose goes, I did change one of the fittings for the test. So it was tight and leak free. The other was not checked. The contractor loaned his...

Difficulty in tracing air piping leak

For the leak down test during the day, I did leave the compressor and hose hooked up. But the overnight test was to check the air compressor itself for any leaks. So for that test I disconnected everything to it. The results the following morning showed no loss of air to the compressor tank. I...

Difficulty in tracing air piping leak

I recently installed a RapidAir piping system 1/2" diameter. Since the garage is new construction, I decided to install the piping in the walls. Once the system was installed, I borrowed my contractors Porter Cable portable air compressor to test it. The first air hose he gave me failed. So he...

best tool chest on a budget?

I just bought a 46" Milwaukee combo cabinet today at closeout price. The drawer layout will work very well in the fabrication area of my garage. I plan to store equipment/instruments like calipers, squares, clamps, mill cutters, live centers, steady rests, welding rod, torch cleaners, etc. The...

Need Help on this concrete mix

We had the structure framed and sided before the slab is to be poured. So yes, they will be using a sidewinder. And the footprint is quite large covering an area of 60' x 48' with two separate rooms all taking this mix. Thank you for your help.

Need Help on this concrete mix

We're in the process of building a new garage. In our specifications, we asked the contractor to provide a 4,000psi concrete mix for the slab floor and it was not to be watered down at the job site. So he went back to the sub-contractor who contacted the concrete supplier and this is what they...

    How to Identify Concrete PSI

Chris, we had to go through an extensive soil review. The city required a soil log be conducted. So a Geotech was on site during most of the excavation phase. The garage is actually constructed. We have siding, windows, electrical, plumbing, and the slab to go. Thank you for your suggestion...

    How to Identify Concrete PSI

Matt, thank you for your insight. We agree with you and others that the sub base is critical. And we have most all the information you guys have shared in our specifications. Thank you for your link. Wow, what a job. I haven't had a chance to go through the whole thing yet. But I will. When it...

    How to Identify Concrete PSI

We are planning to install two lifts. And I also plan on bringing in commercial machining equipment. So I am concerned about compression strength. If it weren't for the fact that our specifications document has not been followed to the letter, I would not be as concerned. So hopefully reviewing...
