    I want my garage to call me if there's a fire starting

    Smoke detectors, sprinklers, etc., only work after a fire started. Don't be the guy who grinds, blowing sparks all over the oil soaked rags, under the wooden bench, into electric motor housings ( they are little metal particles after all ). YOU are the best way to not have a fire!!

    3 phase is no big deal. You can get a static phase converter for under $100...but you only get 2/3 hp from motor. Or a rotory drive which gives full HP but run around $3-500. OR you could get a veriable frequency drive ( again 2/3 hp) but will have the ability to slow spindle speeds without...
