    Buying supplies in the morning

I'll have to read that section of the code. The way I understood it was that as a feeder for a subpanel it was rated for 90a but as a service line it is rated for 100a. This "service" to my garage runs like this Service from utility - - - - - meter - - - - - 100a disconnect - - - - - 2-2-2-4...

    Buying supplies in the morning

I am a wimp when it comes to the cold. Gonna wait till home Depot opens and go pick up a propane torpedo for a hundred bucks to make it comfortable to work in there.

I value your opinion- what pocket knife are you carrying?

    Buying supplies in the morning

Decided on putting the panel directly above where the line will come in as the cable needs to be run in conduit. That is where I was going to put the compressor but I will move the compressor a bit to give the panel the required 30inch side to side and 36inch front clearance. The panel will be...

    Buying supplies in the morning

I think I'll run the service through 2 inch just in case I ever have the need to fish another wire through and take your suggestion and lay in another 1 inch pvc capped off just above grade on both ends for future upgrades.

    Buying supplies in the morning

I think you just turned this 60 amp service into a hundred amp service. 2-2-2-4 service cable is 1.49 per foot. So it'll be about a hundred bucks cheaper to go that route than the #6thhn

    Buying supplies in the morning

150 ft of #6 THHN will run about $175. I'll price out your suggestion and see what it works out to. Right now I am putting all this down on a spread sheet, going through each step of the job, pulling the parts I already have. Trying to make it so I only have to go to the store once today.

    Buying supplies in the morning

Instead of trying to do all of it at once I am going to just deal with getting the service out there and getting the lights and outlets in. I'll deal with the rest later. Too many unknowns for everything else at this point.

    Buying supplies in the morning

Just re-read what you said. They won't pay for the conduit. But...I will. Going to run #6THHN through 2 inch PVC.

    Buying supplies in the morning

I would love to run a hundred amps out there right now. Heck, I would love even more to run 200. But this portion of the project is being paid for by the landlord/land contract holder. They will only pay for so much. I can talk them into some things but not others. So, 60 amps is gonna have to...

    Buying supplies in the morning

Thanks for the welcome and thanks for the effort :) There is one good guy in the plumbing department at the 8 and kelly HD. I wish they didn't fire Kris from the contractor desk. That guy was a book of knowledge. I'll give Warren Pipe a call. Thanks again

    Buying supplies in the morning

The slab is most likely not insulated. The garage is not going to be heated all the time. The heater is only going to be used to take the bite out of the cold while I am playing in there during the winter. So, the operating costs will be minimal. I have no plans to ever rip up the slab. I would...

    Buying supplies in the morning

Thanks for the welcome :) I didn't think of my region being an issue at all. Sorry about that. I am in Southeast Michigan. I planned on posting some pictures today. I thought I had at least one on my computer of the garage but unfortunately all I have are house pictures. I'll take a bunch...

    Buying supplies in the morning

The outdoor outlets are also going in. 1 on each useful face of the garage. I mainly do automotive projects. I can't think of anything I would need a 240v machine outlet for. What could I want to plug in there later?

    Buying supplies in the morning

Thank you! I'll add a 220 outlet, vent fan and thermostat wires. I don't plan on ever needing cable or Internet out there, I have my phone for that. The garage door specific stuff I'll skip for now except for the outlets. Really just putting those there for the next guy or for when I sell the...

    Buying supplies in the morning

Hey all. New to the forum. I just moved into the perfect house. By perfect house I mean it comes with an awesome garage. The previous owner built a garage just before the house was foreclosed. It is a 2.5 car sided garage on a new slab. Right now that is about all there is to it. I will be...
