    Quinn screwdrivers at HF

I've read some good reviews on them and I've been checking them out at my HF here. So, I'll probably grab some myself and put 'em in my road kit. You can never have too many screwdrivers. I'm really liking how HF is stepping up their game.

    Martin Combination Wrenches

It's been awhile since I revisited this thread. I took the plunge and ordered a 1-1/2" Martin Combo wrench to use with my ball hitches. Hasn't come in yet but when it does maybe I'll put a review here. I hated forking over the $75 for a wrench I've never actually seen in person, but I guess...

Flex Head Flarenut Wrench Sets - besides GearWrench

Does anyone know of any U.S. brand Flex Head Flarenut Wrench Sets ? After a quick google and Amazon search, all I see are the GearWrench sets. Also, how about offset or angle Flarenut wrenches ? Thanks

serious mechanics don't use Craftsman, you say?

I'm laughing my *** off reading this thread. The title itself is hilarious. "Serious" and/or "Professional" when used to describe a mechanic is relative any number of things. I don't do mechanical work for a living, however I consider myself both serious and professional since I service all...

    1/4 corded die grinder HF?

I have the HF unit and have used it lots of time with no problems whatsoever. Aside from countless smaller uses, I've also cut 3/4" anchor bolts with it and I've used it to cut off stubborn suspension bolts and shock/strut mounting brackets.

What tools do you NEED two of to get the job done?

Yeah that would work too. Thanks for the idea. Admittedly, I'm wrench fanatic so now I'll probably go and find those too.

What tools do you NEED two of to get the job done?

I like to have duplicates of various socket extension sizes too, that way it's easier and/or more comfortable to reach bolts in weird situations when working under the hood or underneath a vehicle. Sometimes those 18" or 24" extensions are a bit too long to avoid an obstruction.

What tools do you NEED two of to get the job done?

6-pt Combo wrenches for basically the reason you mention above, except I use them on suspension nuts/bolts. I also have duplicates of 6-pt sockets and breaker bars for suspension work.

    Proto Tool Comparison

I agree with pretty much everyone else has said here. In my opinion, they're every bit as good as SO. Actually, as far as price is concerned they're better simply because you aren't paying for a name so much as you would with SO. For that reason, I never buy SO. I just don't think it's worth...

    Snap On ball joint press?

I just used the Harbor Freight (Maddox) ball joint press kit with my impact wrench to remove both the left and right side ball joints on a Kia Sorento and had absolutely no problems with it. I think I paid around $70 for it. Having said that, I'll admit I don't do this for a living and who...

Weekend mechanic looking for Made in USA Tools

I forgot to also mention that in addition to all of the previously mentioned top brands you can find on ebay, there are also quite a few NOS (new old stock) NAPA Professional USA tools out there. I got a full set of NAPA Pro SAE combo wrenches last summer and so far they're great. The open...

Weekend mechanic looking for Made in USA Tools

Everyone has listed some outstanding brands and I'll piggy-back on the SK, Wright, Blackhawk, Proto, and Craftsman USA bandwagon - they are all awesome and the pricing isn't too extreme. If you want to really support U.S. manufacturing, also consider the following: Bondhus and Eklind - both...

    Stanley FatMax Linesman Pliers

Ok that's good to know. I don't have a job where I use my tools all day long. I guess I'll just have to wait it out and see how these hold up. Thanks though.

    Stanley FatMax Linesman Pliers

I need just as many as do those who make love to their Snap On stuff - or in your case..Proto. My question here was specifically in regards to the Linesman Pliers.

Weekend mechanic looking for Made in USA Tools

You can also check out Blackhawk by Proto. Their website is very good about letting you know exactly which items are USA made vs. the ones that are not. I have some of their deep 3/8" sockets and they've been great.

    Stanley FatMax Linesman Pliers

Lately I've been putting together a tool bag to keep in my Jeep and I've been paying attention to finding quality items that aren't tool truck brands. Regarding linesman pliers, I've really taken a liking to the Stanley Fatmax pliers with the built in wire stripper. They look, feel, and...

    The Green Snap-on Tools ****

I like the green tools too. FYI though - if you don't want to put another mortgage on your house to buy the snappy green you can find some green Pittsburgh stuff too. Stanley Vidmar has nice green boxes too. Just my 2-cents.

    Thoughts on Stanley Fatmax Pliers

To Jimithing616's comment: I get it. I know they're fine. I'm pretty new here on GJ but I've noticed right away that there is a lot of tool bashing on brands that aren't made in USA, So I like to highlight some of the Chinese/Taiwan stuff that's out there that is actually really good...
