In need of a inch/pound tq wrench

I have been looking for a decently priced torque wrench or two as well. My problem is I don't know what to look for in a used one. I think the options listed here are all pretty good starting points though. Except those CDI ones - the ones google pulled up were pretty steep

    The VISES of Garage Journal

Well, I have a problem with buying tools all the time, and I'm always taking things apart... oh. Uh, you meant VISES. Heh. Not vices. I get it now...

Thanks OP, this is an outstanding deal. Had to convince the wife but that didn't take long. I even found about five places within 1.5 miles participating!

Good thing there's only six of them!

    Workbench Overhaul

I have a decent (although very old) workbench in the basement of our new place. It's a little rough; as soon as I figure out how to post an image I'll show you. I want to paint it, new drawer pulls, overlay the work surface with some MDF, install a shelf and some peg board, and maximize the...

    Torque wrench question

T4R.org? Never heard of it! Oh wait... In fact I think I've read some of your posts there, under the 3rd gen section. Nice to see a familiar face. Er, screenname.

    Torque wrench question

Thats kinda what I thought - he is saying the specs state 35 to 38 newton meters to replace the drain plugs.

    Torque wrench question

I am doing all the fluid changes that I can on my vehicle (2002 4Runner) to save $$$, and, well, as an excuse to buy tools;) I was watching a YouTube vid on changing the rear differential fluid and the guy said I need a torque wrench that measures in newton meters. When I looked into these it...

Hot Deal on 5 Qts Mobile 1

How so? Sams club is Wal Mart; as I understand it, Costco is a separate corporation all together. Also, Wal Mart has a wretched reputation for treating other businesses, its customers and its employees poorly. I can buy Channellocks elsewhere without patronizing a corporation I despise. Edit...

GearWrench 20PC Combination Ratcheting Wrench Set, SAE/MM

Can someone fill me in on the quality of Gearwrench tools? I never heard of them until I came to this site, but they seem to pop up here a lot.

    At Sear's

I saw one at Target or some such place. I didn't think it felt solid at all - cheap construction that would fall apart with little real use. I can see the latch becoming misaligned quickly, the hinges coming loose and the handle loosening or breaking off. That was just my impression of it...

    Sears free points

Hmmm... the one on the left is taking me to another page, where the only spot to enroll is the one that requires you to sign up again. Not sure if I'm missing it or if it isn't working on my hand-me-down older-than-moses creaking heap of a laptop. Or some other thing.

SK Tools Free hat and catalog!

Well, I signed up... might see a catalog and ballcap by early winter from what I hear. Can't wait!

    Sears free points

Looks to me like it's only for people who aren't already signed up. If you're already registered there you don't get it.

    Sears free points

How do you get them? I'm new to the Sears web site.

Hot Deal on 5 Qts Mobile 1

I can't express how glad I am to see others that know the story behind Wal Mart's tactics and refuse to shop there. I haven't made a purchase there in over seven years, and never plan to again. Not even for cheap oil. Costco I will get behind, but Wally World is not for me. The truly sad...

    Tool Roll - Reccomendations?

The Adventure Tool Co is my favorite but holy s%!tsnacks, the price... That's what prompted me into looking for a suitable replacement. I think I will give the bucket boss and a Dirt Bags Large, maybe a medium as well. I want the rolls themselves to be easily identifiable by look as well as...

    Tool Roll - Reccomendations?

The craftsman is cool but I want a flap to keep stuff from falling out - I know I will lose things otherwise, I'm pretty good at that it seems...

    Tool Roll - Reccomendations?

I like the look of the dirt bagz tool rolls - does the medium fit in the large roll? I had checked out bucket boss too, just wasn't ready to pull the trigger on it yet.
