    Anchor Bolts At Zoro

I ordered six different lengths and diameters. They all arrived on Monday, shipped fedex to my business. My son said about 250 pounds total. All six boxes for less than $35 total, the shipping alone had to be more than I paid.

    Makita Addiction Thread

I have had two of the MAC5200 compressors for a few years now. Also have three of the smaller MAC2400 units. They have all been great with zero issues. One of the MAC2400 units has been run for 200-300 hours a year for about ten years and it still works like new. They're well made. Tim

    Building Pad for Slab ???

You can buy actual 24" concrete form stakes for less than $5 each, less for 18" stakes. I checked a couple local suppliers and they were around $36 for 10 pieces. The cheapest place to buy them is from a concrete supply house, the same place you can buy your rebar and remesh if needed. It will...

    Styrofoam between scissor trusses?

Agree with above... If you fasten foam board directly to the purlins between the truss top chord you will have little to no air flow. The foam board against the purlins will be a two foot wide dead air space running from one side of the building to the other. The only place for air to move...

    well a storm went threw

Do not put your corner braces on top of the top plate as shown. Put them on the bottom side of the top plate. They will not be in the way of your floor joists or trusses this way. If they're on the bottom of the top plates you can leave them in place until you start to finish out the inside.

Snap Ring Pliers...just one or two?

I have somewhere around 30 sets, from very tiny to very large, 12" snap ring size. In my opinion cheap snap ring pliers are worse than no snap ring pliers. They won't do the job and mess stuff up. I like knipex and gedore the best. I also prefer dedicated size and direction pliers, not the...

Alternative to treated splash skirt boards, and heave?

Several companies offer a composite, non-wood, grade board. Looks like you're in Iowa and I think you have Menards there. If so they have composite grade or skirt boards. If not find where your local pole barn builders buy their product.

Milling a square hole on a cheap mini mill

You can buy a 1/2 square push broach for less than $150 on Amazon. I imagine you can find it for less if you shop around a bit. As far as clocking it to a certain position on the part you can make a simple alignment fixture using your mill. I have done this several times with short run...

Is this clausing lathe a good deal?

Several years ago I bought nine of these from a school district. I think I paid $450 each but this was 20 years ago. I still have one but I seldom use it. They sold thousands of these into the schools in the Midwest. It seems like all the schools in my area had the 5900 series in their shops...

Question about a ceiling in a pole barn.

With your trusses set at 9 foot spacing you will need more than 1 x 3 strapping. That isn't heavy enough to prevent sagging. If you look at your roof they probably used 2 x 4 stood on edge and nailed to the top of the trusses with 6" ring shank nails. This would work on the bottom chord of the...

    Tagging steel pieces.

We used to use large caliber Ramset gun to attach tags to heavy forgings and weldments. The powder loads would easily shoot the nail point through a 3/4" web on an I-beam. On thicker steel it would just leave the head proud of the surface. If they needed remove we just ground the pins flush with...

    Scissor truss type

Hello, I'm a lurker and this is my first post here. I have five pole barns and have scissor trusses in each. Also in my home. As long as the trusses are engineered for your snow and ceiling load they should be fine. I have used 6/12 exterior and the interior is 3/12 with raised heel for...
