How does this car lift orientation look for new garage?

Will stick with one door, but hopefully I can make it 18 ft wide instead of 16

How does this car lift orientation look for new garage?

With a 24’ wide it a tough to move it closer to the door. I wish I could do 26’, but I’m maxed out. Maybe, if I do a 2 post, and move it a foot closer to the wall on the left I could do that. I am in talks with contractor on roof structure. I will have 10’ walls, but we’re talking about doing a...

How does this car lift orientation look for new garage?

Running a 4” pad, and then asking for them to do 6” where 2 post will go. Maybe a 3x3 area for each post. Although, 4 post is starting to sound attractive

How does this car lift orientation look for new garage?

I spent a good hour watching some reviews, and definitely strongly considering 4 post. Lots of advantages, and the rolling jacks seem to work well. Can you jack from a center point, and use jack stands on the 4 post if you want all 4 wheels/tires up? It would be nice to have it closer to the...

Help w/ open ceiling & insulation - new build considerations

Right. Talking about doing 2x12 rafters, which will allow space for r30 batt insulation, and hopefully add enough strength to raise the rafter ties. He also mentioned that they would “stick scissor frame at no extra cost.” I have questions out for clarification. Definitely don’t want to weaken...

How does this car lift orientation look for new garage?

I’m not sold on the middle position with a 24’ garage. That leaves only 6’ on the sides, and even my tractor is wider than 6’. Would be a pain for to park the truck anywhere but in the middle.

How does this car lift orientation look for new garage?

I’ll sketch up that one and see. I’m not sure about having it near the garage door… will see what it looks like No I wouldn’t say I’m set on a 2 post. I did start looking into 4 posts yesterday, and a lot of positives like you mention. Especially for when I get my next track toy….

How does this car lift orientation look for new garage?

24x32. Can’t go bigger bc zoning. Want to plan this out so I can have concrete poured deeper where posts will go. I’m not seeing much benefit to a diagonal lift. Anything else I should consider? These are my actual vehicles drawn to scale, each small box is 1’ x 1’. The rogue will probably...

Help w/ open ceiling & insulation - new build considerations

I don’t think there is anything wrong with quality of the build. I just want open ceilings since I am restricted to 10’ walls. I am going to ask them about modifying the area where the lift is, but I don’t see a lot or value in that given that my track cars are less than 50” tall. If it’s only a...

Help w/ open ceiling & insulation - new build considerations

I’m not really sure.. can you post a pic of what you mean? And I will have rafter ties, not ceiling joists. They are 4x8s, 48” oc. I need to clarify how much bracing and home many perpendicular strong holds there will be. But anyway… I think I should have a ton of room to have a 2 post lift...

Help w/ open ceiling & insulation - new build considerations

I have seen people modify the build to accommodate a lift. I have been meaning to ask the builder about that. As mentioned above, this is a garage company that builds largely the same garages, so I don’t think they’d do that without a huge increase in price. Start to finish it is a 2 day...

Help w/ open ceiling & insulation - new build considerations

I don’t know why I said drawings. No drawings, this is a basic garage by a company that builds very close to the same garage everywhere… which I am fine with. He did say there will be collar ties. I will ask him more details regarding that. What do you mean when you say horizontal members...

Help w/ open ceiling & insulation - new build considerations

This is what I need! I have not signed yet, wanting to figure all this out first. So I can change anything, but …. This is a garage company that builds very similar garages. 300 a year. That has its drawbacks, but they are 20% cheaper than anyone else. My brother in law has used them twice for...

Help w/ open ceiling & insulation - new build considerations

The 2 post lift I’m getting is the Benpak GranPrix GP-7LC. It is 118.5” with a lifting height of 68”. It is designed for 10’ ceilings. It’s just for my track cars that are all 50” tall or less. I can’t go higher ceilings due to building code. The drawings have not been done yet. Rafters are...

Help w/ open ceiling & insulation - new build considerations

Hi all. I’m in the process of planning my 24x32, 10’ wall detached garage build in NE Ohio. I want to keep the roof open (kayak, paddle board, bike storage + car lift). I also want to heat/cool the space. What is the most effective way to plan the build for this? For both cost and energy...
