    Preparing for Full-Flake Epoxy Floor

We will be applying a full-flake epoxy to my shop floor in a few weeks and I have a few questions: I am going to open up a trench in the floor to install electrical conduit and a floor box. The trench will be about 10' long x 3" wide x 4" deep. This should have been done months ago but it got...

    Compressed Air Manifold/Radiator or Aftercooler

I am moving into a new shop soon and am planning the compressed air setup and piping. My current setup in the existing shop utilizes two 60 gallon 3.7hp single-stage Husky air compressors (155 psi; about 11 cfm each). They are installed in a closet with 1/2" copper pipe running about 50' to my...

    Show me your shop bathrooms!

I would suggest a door with weatherstripped jambs and a sweep on the bottom to keep out dust and dirt. And dark floors to hide any grease or dirt that does make it in. Also, good quality washable paint for the walls, door, and trim. Here's mine...it doubles as a pool bath:

Construction methods for controlling sound from a garage workshop

I appreciate all of your responses. You guys provided me with some good information and things to consider. My main takeaway is that the block construction with furring and drywall is probably adequate but the window and door openings should be the areas for concern. The impact windows are...

Construction methods for controlling sound from a garage workshop

I am just trying to limit the impact on my neighbors from any of the excess noise from my woodworking equipment. The closest neighbor is probably 100' away but they are pretty noisy themselves and I doubt I would disturb them. The next closest are about 200' from the garage. I should have...

    Looking for wood clamps

I just picked up some more of these small Bessey clutch clamps for $30 at Home Depot which is a decent price. https://www.homedepot.com/p/BESSEY-Clutch-Clamp-Set-4-Piece-GSCC4PK-C/312366514

Construction methods for controlling sound from a garage workshop

I am in the process of building a 50x50 garage workshop. The building is concrete block with 5/8" stucco on the exterior. The interior walls and ceiling will be 5/8" drywall and the attic space will have blown-in cellulose insulation in it. The windows are double pane impact windows which really...

    Epoxy coating on baseboard

I am planning to epoxy coat my garage floor. I would like to install 8" wood baseboards, caulk them to the floor, then epoxy coat the floor and baseboards. Will the epoxy adhere to the baseboard? Which caulking should I use for the floor to baseboard joint?

    Flooring tile

I purchased two samples of both the plastic and rubber tiles from this company. The plastic tiles are cheaply made and actually cracked on the surface in two small areas when I tried to pull them apart. The hammer test left some damages to them. The rubber tiles are very nice. They have...

    Tile deal!

What pattern/colors were you planning on doing?

    Tile deal!

The original plan, with a different brand tile, was black and grey. If I get these tiles (most likely will) it will either be black and blue or all black. Black and red looks too much like a checkerboard, and blue and red or yellow will look like a kid's room. Any suggestions???

    Lighting Help?

$750.00-$900.00. Don't forget the cost of the bulbs, outlet box, switches, wire, clamp connectors, conduit, and time/travel to pick up materials. Ask your contractor what the labor price would be if you supplied all the materials. Depending on your situation, labor should be around 3-5 hours...

    Tile deal!

They are located near Seattle. I spoke to them today. They still have a lot left of certain colors. They have a lot of black. The other colors (if I remember right) where red, blue, orange, and yellow. They seem like nice people; they are holding the quantity I need until I get the samples...

    Plastic or Rubber Tiles?

Thanks for the input. I ordered some samples from that Dynotile closeout. I figure for $1.00/ft it's worth it.

    Plastic or Rubber Tiles?

I am going to be installing a tile floor in my garage. Epoxy is out because of the condition of the concrete; previous owner destroyed it. There are oil, paint, tar, and some other stains all over it. I also refuse to pay $4.00/ft for garage flooring. I have samples of the Big Foot rubber...

    Cabinet Choices ???

Thanks for the replies, fellas. I decided that I will just build some cabinets to suit my needs. The metal cabinets are very nice but I can't justify spending $2,500.00 or more for a cheap, flimsy cabinet set. The other companies that you guys suggested I look into would be even more. On...

    Cabinet Choices ???

Thanks for the replies; here is some more information. We will be selling the house in 5-6 years, so I would like them to last that long and still look good for potential buyers. They do not need to last a lifetime. I could not find a warranty listed for the cabinets I posted, but if I order...

    Cabinet Choices ???

Hello and thank you everyone for a great site with lots of useful information. I am new to this site and it has helped me with ideas for my garage. I am currently remodeling my garage. It is a 24 x 20 attached, two car garage. I will be using the garage mainly for carpentry work, but also...

    Spray painting garage

I smaller spray tip will eliminate a lot of the overspray, although it takes longer. Spray and backroll is probably the quickest way to go. But if you don't have access to a sprayer, it is probably not worth renting. 18" rollers work great.
