Airless Sprayer for Paint / Stain

The Earlex 5500 will do latex but not really that well. For latex you really need at least a 3 stage setup. I have done many cabinet sized projects with latex paint and have been very happy with the results. I don't think I would want to paint walls or anything very large with it because you...

Airless Sprayer for Paint / Stain

For cabinet finishing you want an HVLP sprayer. The advantages of HVLP are low waste and very little over spray and bounce back. The only thing airless is really good for is spraying walls with latex paint. The airless has so much over spray that, unless you are doing new construction, the...

Recommend me a mitre saw please.

Since you are in Canada, I would recommend getting this saw. http://www.homedepot.ca/product/12-in-sliding-compound-mitre-saw-with-adjustable-laser/906099 It has great reviews and some nice features. You really want to get a 12 inch dual compound saw, no matter which brand you decide on. The 12...

School me on Milwaukee M and Fuel tool/battery compatibility

Never had any experience with the early M12 battery's but the ones I have will hold a charge for a very long time. I got my first M12 tool, a 3/8's impact wrench, about 2 1/2 years ago.

School me on Milwaukee M and Fuel tool/battery compatibility

Milwaukee pissed me off with the V18 fiasco also. I got caught with my V18 Drill/Driver kit but managed to sell it on flee bay, so I didn't get hurt too badly. I also have a mixture of Fuel and original M12 and M18 models. The older stuff is still great, I just think if you are starting out in...

School me on Milwaukee M and Fuel tool/battery compatibility

Whatever tools you are looking at, get the Fuel versions. It's well worth the extra cost for the brushless motors on the Fuel models. They have more power, use less battery and are more compact then the brush type models.

Does anyone have "New Age" garage cabinets?

Sorry to hear about the doors. I have the Pro Diamond Plate series and the doors are holding up just fine. Here is a shot of some on them when I was redoing my garage last year. I have a total setup of 15 cabinets, another set like this one on the other side of the garage and I added...

First dyno pull on the blown LT1 MGB

Good numbers, that thing should be a rocket and really fun to drive.

So I've been looking for a chainsaw

One thing I discovered with my 2 cycle equipment is they don't like the new ethanol blended gas. I can't get non ethanol premium gas in my area so I just started using pre-mixed canned gas. All my tools have a 50:1 ratio so I use the TruFuel red cans and it is great. Lasts for 2 years after...

    Protecting lower garage walls?

How about some aluminum diamond plate?http://www.metalsdepot.com/catalog_cart_view.php?msg= Easy to install, maintain and would look great. I have a piece of this to protect the wall where all my yard tools hang.

First dyno pull on the blown LT1 MGB

You get around that by having a blow through instead of a draw through system and you put the blow off valve before the MAF sensor. The neat setup with a centrifugal is a waste gate, like on a turbo. The waste gate on a centrifugal blower allows a smaller pulley, for quicker boost buildup, and...

First dyno pull on the blown LT1 MGB

One piece of advice, when you get into boost the RPM's will climb so fast it's almost impossible to get out of it by 3500 rpm. Since it hasn't even been tuned at the higher RPM's you are really risking blowing something from detonation and a stock bottom end. I know it's not what you want to...

1500 sq foot of floor to epoxy, how did you deal with multiple kits?

This, listen the the guys that have already been there. Why go through all the work of doing the floor and then use a cheap product on it. If you use good products you won't have to spend the money to put down race Deck in a couple of years.

    Diamabrush - how much dust?

When I did my floor I used the HD buffer and did it dry. I had my shop vac set up with an Oneida Dust Deputy. I would stop and vacuum about every 10 feet. I have about 1100 sqft in my garage and I filled up the 5 gal Oneida bucket twice. There is a lot of dust when you grind but with the HD...

Epoxy floor primers/ polyurethane top coat?

Op the best recommendation I can make is to ask yourself this question, "Do I want to go through all this work and then have to do it again in a couple years". Spend the money for good products and you will never regret it. IF it were me and this is a working shop, I would do a primer, 100%...

    Air Compressor requirement

Your best bet is to rent one that meets your needs. You're talking big bucks to buy one that will do the job and unless you are going into business with it, you will most likely never need that much capacity again. Much better off renting.

analysis paralysis on Cabinets for the garage.

Another vote for NewAge cabinets. I installed the NewAge Diamond Plate Pro cabinets in my garage last year and I have been very happy with them. I think they are a good compromise between the light weight stuff and the real heavy duty cabinets, like Lista.

    epoxy over oil

I hate to tell you this but grinding doesn't do anything for oil stains. You have to get them up as good as you can, before you grind the floor.
