Picked-up a few things, then grabbed the hedge clippers off the hook to start cutting back some of last year’s perennials. Put the hedge clippers away.

For some items they also offer a discount if you have a commercial account. I don’t remember plumber’s surplus, but they were also called “PEX supply”.

Finished reassembling the Fein vacuum cleaner after the last of the foam insulation arrived. Well, Amazon kinda blew it on the 1/2” stuff that is used to line the top assembly. The product description said it was open cell foam (it was not), that kinda pissed me off, but I just wanted to finish...

The morning brought an unexpected surprise for my bride when our normally piping hot water turned to ice cold (mid-shower, after soap-up). Fun fact, tankless water heaters go cold as fast as they get hot. I think she’s still mad at me because, well because. I grabbed my meter and was about to...

I’d use actual vibration isolators under the compressor. They are quite effective, but might stretch the budget (but they could be added later). For the walls, I’d use unfaced mineral wool batts. Flameproof and quite sound absorbent. Or just turn the music up louder.

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

Last fall, my Fein Turbo II (old design) vacuum started blowing chunks of foam rubber out of the exhaust and was no longer as quiet as it once was. To be fair, it’s probably 30 years old, but the vacuum is still strong and I kinda like the ugly little thing (looks like a Dalek). Parts are no...

Some jurisdictions do not allow ABS (like mine). I want to know what that dark red gunk is.

    Let's see your toolbox.

Mine as well! First toolbox with drawers. Long gone, as I gifted it to one of my young employees in 2006 when we closed up one of our plants. Served me well for 30 years, but I needed more room.

For the components that go directly into transmission without subsequent processing, there were specific cleanliness standards that had to be met. Parts had to be tested several times per shift (fail and you don’t pass “GO” - start over). Sample parts were washed down with a specific filtered...

Complexity from back in the day. I remember the first time I opened one up - it made my brain hurt. Automatic transmissions have moved far beyond the turbo350. I had the distinct pleasure of working with power train and transmission engineering teams for many years. The amount of brainpower...

Or you could email the photo from your phone to yourself, open the email on your computer then save to your local drive. This works well if you are just dealing with a few photos.

Much depends on the format of the recording and the format of your player. For example, if your music is all ripped into .ALAC your specific player may not recognize it. If you convert to .mp3 you should have no issue as that is a more “universal” codec.

Too bad you’re so far, I’d ****** em up. I still believe in physical media. Vinyl is preferred, but a well recorded cd can be quite enjoyable.

I’ve had a hell of a time getting stainless npt fittings to seal reliably. It seems like there is always one or two that end up weeping. This happens even after chasing the threads with a fresh tap and die. For me, the only reliable solution has been -all of the above - plus using the modern...

Just looked up on Amazon - currently $73 usd, it would be interesting to know how much it costs in your neighborhood. Purchase history shows I paid less, as I bought it in January of 2016. How embarrassing that it was sitting around uninstalled for that long. Of course, my job was really intense...

Cleaned up a bit. I've been tripping over remnant rolls of various toolbox liners, I had them standing up like bowling pins and would bump into them - LITERALLY tripping. Anyway - put 'em up high since 90% of my drawers are lined. Then, while cleaning, I decided that I'm not just going to pick...
