    The Gray Garage

I think this is the car you saw. It's a Super Performance car, but a cool story about rebuilding it after it was under 12 Ft of water in Katrina! http://www.clubcobra.com/forums/superformance/111269-panavias-daytona-coupe-build-thread-aka-car-54-where-you.html The Garage is looking awesome! 220V Switch

I like to contactor Idea. I was talking to someone about it this morning, and he has one wired up to his hot tub. He actually uses a wireless switch from pico to control it. Sounds pretty slick. I talked to my electrician about it last night as this is a little over my head. He said it was no...

    220V Switch

This is not really garage related, but the same principals may apply. I am looking to put a normal wall switch to turn off power to my range in the kitchen. It has front controls on it with no control locks, and our little guy will be able to reach them pretty soon (We bought the range...

    Pics of Shop sink

I don't have anything, but after spending some time in the hospital, I think they have awesome sinks. They also have either foot or knee operating faucets. I can't find a pic of the particular one, but this one would be cool. No shelf to sit stuff down on, but I thought a wire basket type shelf...

    Smoke Alarms

Bringing back an old post, but what is the benefit of hardwired vs non. I have hardwired smoke alarms, and I think they are original to the house (35 years old.) they have been supplemented over the years with battery powered ones and separate CO2 alarms as well. I'd like to replace them with...

Suburban 3 Car: This will have to do until retirement

Great Space. I am in the planning stages of a 3-car attached. How did you decide to put the 4 post in the middle as opposed to either end?

    Thoughts on my layout.

Planning a garage and realizing the odd shape and layout of my property is making it difficult. My house is up on a hill on a narrow lot. From the street to the front of the house is probably about a 40' vertical climb. At the house it levels off and is pretty flat to the back property line...

Cheap soda blaster and tire balancer...

Actually, harbor freight has small guns for spot blasting for just over $10. May be a better route.

Cheap soda blaster and tire balancer...

Crazy ideas, but I can see that. I Think i'll leave the tire balancing one alone, but i would be tempted to try the soda blasting one. I was actually looking at picking up a used tire balancing machine. You can find them for a few hundred on craigslist. When I was in high school and college, I...

Adding a garage in the basement

Sweet. I am thinking it may not be that hard to build from scratch as it is small and simple, plus I have help from a friend who used to be a contractor. I like the Kit, but I may have to do a Cinder block Knee wall because of the slope, so i would be customizing that anyway.

Adding a garage in the basement

So after moving in and getting settled, I decided that the garage basement is not worth it. It would still be small and is not worth losing the living area to me, or probably to future buyers. I have figured out I can just barely fit a small detached in the front where there is a shed now...

Gabe, I live in Manchester MA and I am looking at doing a prefab or something similar. If you don't mind, what was the general estimate for the whole project (Barn, slab...)

Adding a garage in the basement

In New England it is very common to have garages in the basement, or at least below some portion of living space. I figured about the fire proofing as well. Need a steel door and fire-stop insulation in the ceiling and adjoining walls etc. I am going to talk with the town inspector and building...

Adding a garage in the basement

Could you elaborate on why? The house is set in a rocky hillside. There is a lot of that around here.

Adding a garage in the basement

The House is in Manchester MA. Most of the houses we looked at do not have garages. They are smaller capes and it doesn't seem to be to common on those types of houses. Manchester is small, so finding everything we want is not going to happen. Compromises are a must.
