    Color of Interior Paint

Thornto, Glad you can get the Glidden so cheaply. I'll be looking for it. Craig, Yep, I think one step up from flat appears to be the way to go. Thanks. DEG, Primer, and that's all? Wow, a new standard in easy finishing. Something to think about.

    Color of Interior Paint

Dawg, I really like your two tone idea. It adds a quality to the construction. Less "cheap." But I've got to say, you are the only guy in this whole thread to say gloss or semi. Why does everyone else say flat or eggshell? Joe

    Color of Interior Paint

ky-mike, I think you're right on the color. Falcon, We think alike, but OSB is too ********* for me. Beside, the drywall is already up. 44Dan, Thanks, I think I'll go eggshell, maybe flat. And thanks for the recommendation on Sherwin Duration. First hand experience has real value. Joe

    Color of Interior Paint

Cobbler, I like your thriftiness, but I just don't have that much odd paint hanging around. And this project has been so much work, a part of me just wants to buy the paint and get it done. Logical, 100% on a lesser level of perfection. I'll cave in and do the seams and holes. Just that...

    Color of Interior Paint

Mike93, Another vote for flat, eh? I really thought semi-g would be the way to go. Why the hate towards semi-gloss? I don't even use full gloss on my trim. I mean what am I, a New Orleans pimp?

    Color of Interior Paint

Ky-mike, Why the color? To make it seem less cheap? K'ledge, Flat? I'm afraid it would pick up more dirt than semi-gloss.

    Color of Interior Paint

Aaargh, Mike, you are right. We all need a nudge of correction every now and then. Cobbler, I hear you, but mixing disparate brands and colors can be a big task, esp. to paint a whole workshop. And to save how much? Maybe I should be more frugal and follow your advice. And...anyone answer...

    Color of Interior Paint

Mike, in my heart I know you're right, but I'm just want this to be done. After painting the spackle won't adhere as well? Is that it? Moose, I see returns in 1 gallon cans all the time. 5 gallon, pretty rare. I don't want all the walls to have different colors and all. Joe

    Color of Interior Paint

What's the best color and shade for interior paint on my new workshop? I finished the drywall, but left it "rustic" (i.e. no tape, no spackle, etc). I'm going to paint it just to protect the drywall surface. My thoughts; - bright white paint for more light - medium white, as a compromise...

Installing Proper Vents In An Almost Finished Ceiling

Through the soffit vents? So...put in rectangular vents, big enough for the baffles to fit up through? An interesting idea. I was thinking of shoving a ventilated 2" plastic pipe down, to make an airspace, but I can try to fit a regular baffle vent up through a larger soffit vent. See if...

Installing Proper Vents In An Almost Finished Ceiling

I'm insulating a shed and putting up drywall to make it into a workshop. The cathedral roof is half done, and I realize now that I need baffle vents behind the insulation. Ouch! Any ideas that don't involve ripping out the drywall that's already up? I'm hoping I can slide proper vents behind...

    Insulating a Shop

Joe K - I am with 100% on the rock wool. Totally worth whatever the extra money is. Kaizen - Relax, this is an informational forum. No need to get directive. Racer - This is built to code. But...this is a small town and "code" is subjective. I want a sound, study structure. That's it. Joe

    Insulating a Shop

I am leaning to following this idea. No wrap, and let the little leaks that get to the rock wool dry out. If a gross leak develops (hasn't happened yet) then the wrapping the individual stub bays is moot. Then the water would pool at the foot for the same problem. Joe

    Insulating a Shop

Kaizen, okay for vapor barrier, but you abandoning the idea of house wrap on between the insulation and the exterior clap boards? Joe

    Insulating a Shop

Kaizen, it won't be fully heated. Just +20 deg over the ambient temp, with an electric heater. I don't understand it when you say "Plastic over the whole wall." Do you mean on top of the insulation? Matt, I'm liking your idea of not adding any wrap. Mainly because the insulation is...

    Insulating a Shop

It wasn't edge-painted. I did that from the inside as extra waterproofing. There was slight water entry at some seams and knots. Thanks for the thumbs-up on Roxul, and the electrical work is done. So...should I put house wrap on each individual stud bay, from the inside? As irksome as that...

    Insulating a Shop

I wasn't going to finish it. Merely paint the raw drywall with the seams and scews exposed.

    Insulating a Shop

Stm317, I am worried about moisture getting through to the insulation. Should I put up house wrap between the studs? Optimally it would have been done on initial construction, but this is what I'm working with now. Joe

    Insulating a Shop

Is my process reasonable? I'm insulating a garage, then adding drywall, to make it into a more livable shop for engine repair, etc. The shell is grooved cedar siding over a cement floor. I'm adding insulation (rock wool) and then drywall over it. Not going to finish it beyond that. This is...

    Insulate or not?

Same question, but different situation. 14'x20' cedar workshop, high 7' walls, concrete base, unfinished interior, has lights and electrical service. For hobby motorcycle/engine work in Massachusetts. Only source of heat is a plug-in elec. heater. During the winter, I can work in there...
