    Tools as a Christmas Gift

I'll make a slight amendment: Lithium Ion compact, cordless drill/driver.

Stored in tool box, or on pegboard...which tools should be where?

How deep is your bench? Maybe a simple wall cabinet with the doors made of pegboard would be the way to go (would give you a couple more storage shelves in addition to the pegs)

Will a 150 watt portable power inverter work with a 300 AMP Jump Starter?

I'd get a cigarette splitter. If that's not in the cards, I'd plug the GPS into the jump box and plug the laptop into the car's cigarette lighter. The GPS ought to draw fewer amps and therefore won't drain the jump box as much (some of those jump boxes are designed for cranking and not...

    bottle opening tools

Dang. I must be a girly man, because I've been known to use bottle openers on twist off tops every once in a while (can't imagine trying to pry the non twist off bottle caps with my hands...ouch).

    Total sham at Sears today....

I can tell you are pretty particular and passionate about all of this. If so, I'd suggest you try to meet the department manager (or at least a more experienced salesman). It's not the same, but I can tell you that when I worked at a bank there were definitely gray areas. I can absolutely...

    bottle opening tools

Brother has a pair of these. I nearly lost it when I saw him put it to use. It was one of those "that's sooo coool" moments And these Swiss-type knives are pretty handy. And there never seems to be a shortage of them at golf tourneys, expos, etc. I keep one in all my vehicles and in pretty...

    The Harbor Freight PASS/FAIL Thread...

Seems HF tools are a bit inconsistent. Therefore, I'd suggest taking them home and putting them through their paces before you lose the receipt and/or the warranty runs out. Another tip: NEVER go to the store without first checking the ads and internet for coupons (seems just about every item...

Any Suggestions On A Small Toolbox?

I clicked the link and the price was $49.97 That's a great price. It's not full of the highest quality tools, but I suspect there's something in there that will work just fine in the home workshop.

    bottle opening tools

Saw a couple similar to that at Sears the other day. Good for a chuckle. I'd get him a Robogrip and a $.99 bottle opener if it were me.

Any Suggestions On A Small Toolbox?

Sears has a sale going on right now on a lot of their stuff. I think I saw their basic/cheap chest for about $85. It included a top AND bottom cabinet with drawers. I'm sure you'll find a use for both. Doesn't have the nice ball bearing drawer slides, but neither will any $50 tool box.

Best generators for tail gating/swap meets?

I ain't no expert, but be careful when using cranking batteries for extended periods of time (especially if the truck engine isn't running). As I understand it, they aren't designed so well for that (hence the invention of the deep cycle battery).

    Battery charger for a Christmas

That's a heck of a good tips. Thanks I just wish I would do a better job of looking up online coupons before I go out and buy stuff (sears had a nice one the other day).

    Sturdy shop towel holder?

Ever thought about using one of the vertical ones? You can make one out of an old mop handle and a scrap piece of wood. Also...you can always feed a bungee cord through the roll and hook it on the shelf. Lastly...there is always a Harbor Freight solution. :)

    Favorite cheap-O tool.

Especially if you can pick it up for $9 or $15 on sale Re: OP Cheap-o pliers from Wal Mart. They get used for all sort of things, especially around the BBQ pit. Free screwdriver that came in one of those "some assembly required" bookcases. It's the perfect size and still has a nice sharp...
