    Where to get new furnace

Hoosierbuddy, thanks for the info. I picked up a lightly used electric unit from craigslist last week. I haven't hooked it up yet, but hopefully it will do the job and not burn a hole in my wallet at the same time. This barn is out in the middle of no where and for now all I have is electric...

    Powder Actuated Tool

I am preparing to frame in some interior walls in my garage/barn. Any suggestions on how to attach the bottom plate to the 4" concrete floor? After helping a buddy finish out his basement this weekend, I am leaning against using Tapcon screws because it took forever and ate drill bits...

Total cost heating & insurance for 40x48x14 shop?

Randy, that looks like a very good option. How do you like yours so far? I assume it's cold now and you're getting to test it out? I have a fairly big barn and this my be just the thing to heat it once I get insulation up. As for the price how does this compare to say an actual furnace or...

Total cost heating & insurance for 40x48x14 shop?

neblinc, is radiant heat the same as in-floor heating? Or am I misunderstanding something? Wouldn't you have to plan this before the concrete has been poured? Thanks.

Another guy looking for insulation help...

Junk, why must drywall be used? If I let Morton insulate it they wouldn't use any. There must be a way to insulate this thing. I may have to give up my open trusses, but it will not be cold next winter (I hope). Thanks for the comments.

Another guy looking for insulation help...

Thanks Willy, I was afraid that's what I would hear. What do people with steel buildings (H beam construction) do for insulation? They would have an "open" truss design correct? and would have to put the insulation at the roof and not add a ceiling?

Another guy looking for insulation help...

Last night I could see my breath in my cold barn. So it's time for some insulation. I have a 42'x75' Morton builsing. The columns are 7' 6" OC. Walls are 10' and 15' high. Soffit and Ridge vents. During the winter I get out to the barn a couple times a week or more and would like to be...

New Guy with 30x50 pole barn

Dmitch, I am doing a similar set up. Done so far is the 42x75 barn, concrete, well, roughed in drainage and electric. Up next, if it ever stops raining here, is septic. Then I'll finish one end (15x42) for bath, bedroom, kitchen and living area as you are planning. For heat I am thinking...

Bad Experience at Sears (Returning a tool)

Is the return policy limited to certain types of tools? The last lady told me they only guarantee power tools not the drill bit set I was trying to return. I've had two of these Speed-Loc bits break and under normal use (assuming drilling wood is normal :wtf: ) I was trying to exchange...

    Heating options in barn

boiler, I couldn't focus on your post because I was distracted by that ugly avatar of yours!!! .:lol_hitti Do you think an electric heater would make any difference if i just had it pointed over the workbench? Or would it dissipate so fast that I wouldn't even feel the heat? Even if I ran...

    Heating options in barn

What type of heating options do you suggest for a 42x75 pole barn (10' to 15' open ceilings). No gas, only electrical service at the site. No insulation in the barn. Concrete floor. One large sliding door (14'x14') and a smaller overhead door, neither of which are airtight. I don't want...

    EdenPURE portable heater

I searched the forum but didn't find anything about this. http://www.edenpureheater.com/product_info.php Any of you used one of these? That little thing might help supplement house heating, but could it do much in a garage? I'm looking for something just to take the chill of. I could wheel...
