I was at the National Hardware Show in Vegas....

I'm all about talking about the National Harware Show or Sema. Not sure I care which manufacturers you picked up. That stuff is better left for another forum, in my opinion.

How to dress up AC unit, water heater, and washer/dryer

Build a closet around the WH and A/C. Then paint the washer and dryer to look like tool boxes. Buy GF diamond ring. Better to ask for forgiveness later than ask permission now. :wtf:

New Work Bench For Free - Need Help

I used two salvaged hollow metal doors for the top on one of my benches. Free (came off a job I'm finishing) and quite durable, withstands a lot of punishment and is metal (grounds well for welding). Most larger metro areas will have architectural salvage yards where you could pick one or two...

    Concrete terminology questions.

You are pretty well on the money. 6x6 10/10 WWM is a welded wire mesh that has squares 6" x 6" and the 10 is the guage of the wire. The rebar is not one piece. It's many pieces overlapped at the ends and tied together with tie wire effectively making it continuous.

new guy on the block with questions

The reflectance does make a difference. That picture was taken at night, with only three 4'-2 bulb cheap fixtures on (not the black ones which I'm putting in now). I can't wait to get the walls finished, textured and painted. Should be crazy bright.

new guy on the block with questions

$7 per 8' sheet that has a final installed width of 24". That's $0.43 per square foot. $440 total for my 1024 sq ft shop. The best I found around here was at a local lumber yard that caters to small builders in these parts. Big box retailers are not the place to get it. Local metal building...

new guy on the block with questions

Well tex, it depends on the look you're after I guess. Eventually mine will have an industrial type feel to it, so I'm going with corrugated tin on the ceiling.

    air-compressor idea!----1 tank, 2 comp.?

I think it would be pretty easy to set up. If supply of both compressors are tied together downstream from the existing check valves, I don't think any additional ones would be required. Electrically is a bit more complicated. I think what JC is saying would be OK but I think you're wanting...

How do I insulate a standard Garage Door

I had an issue with the insulation in my attached garage door. My dog ripped it all up and tore a bunch of it out on the bottom two panels. I just replaced the insulation and covered the bottom two panels with aluminum diamond plate. Looks spectacular. Good enough that I'll probably do the...

There is no max I believe. It just takes longer supports to hang the end of the tracks and/or opener.

    Electrical Advise For Dummies

I'll agree with everyone else. Cu prices are just stupid lately. Talking to the electrician on my current project, it costs him about $2600 to fill up his wire cart with all the different colors of THHN. Two years ago, $500 to $600.

    Car runs on water

Although not technically considered a "fuel" water does contain vast amounts of energy, more so than gasoline. Proof: E=MC2 The inherent energy in any substance is directly related to its mass. Water, being heavier than gasoline, contains more energy (proportionate to its additional mass for...

    Stairs to loft?

Hey Nova, you gotta a OH door in the back of that garage too? It doesn't appear that there's enough room on either side of the front door for the set up shown in the picture.
