    McMaster-Carr for Small Drill Bits?

Put another way, all the manufacturers that McMaster is known to use for their drills are very well regarded and no matter which they choose from you'll be satisfied with the tool. (I've received Cle-Line and Chicago Latrobe from them in the past.)

    The VISES of Garage Journal

I’m hoping someone here can help me out. I’m currently a grad student in the front range of Colorado both working on my PhD and trying to start a business on the side (manufacturing/CADCAM/toolmaking). I’ve been looking for a good vise for a long while but I’m having trouble. I don’t need a vise...

Looking for a lower cost AC/DC Tig? check this out.

I learned to TIG weld on my friend's Miller Syncrowave 210 and recently bought an AlphaTIG when he moved away. I've found the AlphaTig 201XD to do an excellent job for the price. I've welded a few bike frames with it along with a whole bunch of miscellaneous tasks and I really don't have any...

Grey Pneumatic vs Tekton vs Sunex

The set in post 38 is the old version. Tekton released new pattern 1/2” impact sockets recently. Look at Tekton’s web site not amazon. Tekton doesn’t change shipping and gives points back. It’s better to just buy directly from them.

    Ignorance Of The Knipex Cobras

The only time I use a pair of vise grips over a pair of Cobras is when I need to grab something and have it stay grabbed when I let go of the pliers. If it's a situation where I'm holding onto the pliers, then I'll use Cobras and they've never failed me. (*They once failed me when I was trying...

But great for cutting twine and thin rope. (I do prefer a non-serrated blade myself, though.)

    Allen wrenches that aren't garbage?

You're both correct. Bondhus does sell both metric and imperial with the gold finish. But they also sell combo packs with the metric in gold and the imperial in silver. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00132CGTW/?tag=atomicindus08-20 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000E7ZQHQ/?tag=atomicindus08-20

Using a tank of compressed N2 instead of an air compressor?

Your big mistake is in your initial analysis of cylinder volume. An 'A' cylinder (roughly 9x51") has an internal volume of 1.55 cu. ft. (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gas_cylinder) and is typically filled to about 2500 psi. That's 170 cu ft at atmospheric pressure (14.7 psi). Assuming that the...

    Blade to cut aluminum profiles

I use a 7-1/4” diabo circular saw blade designed for aluminum in my table saw. I use a cross cut sled to cut 1/2” thick aluminum bar stock all the time. It’s tends to give an imperfect surface finish due to the heat and rubbing but is quick, easy, cheap, and safe.

    Table Saw HP Downgrade?

I can run my Bosch 4100 off a 120V 15 amp breaker with dust collection, lights, and someone using the drill press all at the same time. So it's not drawing anywhere near 15 amps. Probably less than 1 hp. I don't know where they get 4 horsepower for the product description as a horsepower is 746...

    Table saw parallelism question

The mitre slots are the absolute reference point of a table saw. They are fixed and cannot be adjusted. You then true the blade relative to the slots and the fence relative to the slots.

cleaning pitch off table saw blades

I just soak the blades in very hot water with lots of dish soap for about 5 minutes and then give them a light scrub with a fine brass brush. Quick, easy, and very effective.

NEW Milwaukee M12 STRAIGHT die grinder

There isn't a spindle lock on either M12 die grinder. You need to use a pair of wrenches to change bits which is rather annoying. I'd have much preferred a spindle lock so I could use just a single wrench.

Show us your pb swiss tools!

For those of you with the 215 series screwdrivers with interchangeable blades, how do you like them? I like the concept a lot but I’m a little worried about how much wobble and slop may exist in the system. I frequently end up in situations where I want to be using very precise, high quality...

Are there such fasteners as having metric threads with standard wrench sizes?

That was probably a 5/32” hex head (3.97mm) which is the standard size for 10-24 and 10-32 socket cap screws.

    The Milwaukee addiction thread! :)

I have the 2783 angle grinder and use it extensively for light fabrication. For my uses it's perfect. If I'm using it a lot, I'll get 20-30 min from a 5.0 battery, but I'm usually picking it up here and there for a minute or two at a time, so a pair of batteries can last me all day.
