Had one of those projects - garage door opener button install

I have a garage door opener with a doorbell button by the door to the house. The button wore out from use and got flakey. I recently bought a replacement, and decided to get two so I could add a second switch near the garage door. I had both switches tucked under the wire to the worn out...

Barn DEconstruction company in Elmira NY area?

Thanks very much for the replies, keep the info coming... I wasn't sure if this was a pay or get paid situation, the market fluctuates. Good point on the number of available barns, supply and demand definitely comes into play. Finding a company isn't too hard, finding a reputable one that...

Barn DEconstruction company in Elmira NY area?

My MIL lives in the Elmira NY area, and her barn needs to come down. She did some looking for places that would dismantle it for her and cart it all away. Problem is...she says there are a bunch of places advertised, and she wants to get hooked up with a reputable one. She'd like to get some...

    The 30x24 Bird House

Is that really an original 69 TA convertible, or a clone? Nice car, but if it's legit one of 8 made...that's even nicer!

Another YS find - x-y vise

Another yard sale score. It's a no-name cheapie, but it's miles better than the simple vise I had on the drill press before. $25. Now I gotta come up with an excuse to use it.

Info please? Handle Lock Wrench Co.

Thanks for the info Bruce, much appreciated. I just wanted to make sure it wasn't something more than a curiosity. The hex measures 3/8", and after a good soak and some oiling, it ratchets just fine. I stared at it up close and personal for a bit, and decided that last line says Pat Pending...

Info please? Old Craftsman double box ratchet

So this makes two of these threads...is this worth anything? The "Reg. U.S. Pat. Off." makes me think it's fairly old. Anyone have any info on this? Note that the 9/16 is stamped upside down relative to the rest of the text...on both sides!

Info please? Handle Lock Wrench Co.

OK, so I know the brand name and it's a box ratchet, but a search yields very little info other than it could be from the 20's to 30's. I read that Crescent was also in Jamestown originally, not sure if that is related. Anyone have any info on this and/or what the value is?

    Building from scratch

So can/will they come back to move the cable? (esp since it's not hooked up yet) Maybe this time take a can of blaze orange and draw a line for them on the ground. Cut here.

    Bucket-o-tools score from yardsale

Since they were in a bucket already...they're soaking in vinegar now. There are a couple of box ratchets (one is an old craftsman I think) that have a good coating of surface rust, plus a couple of older looking open end wrenches. The rest just has minor surface rust here and there. So far...

    Bucket-o-tools score from yardsale

Thanks! I'll give that a shot. There's a couple of items with some light rust on them, but mostly they're just kinda gunky.

    Bucket-o-tools score from yardsale

There's a couple of "I could modify a wrench to make this job easier" projects that I have in mind for the no-name stuff. I'll probably throw the decent looking ones in my toolbox and just use 'em. Any ideas on cleaning these up? The dishwasher would probably work, but...not gonna do that. I...

    Bucket-o-tools score from yardsale

Naah...they look useful, I'll keep 'em. Besides, I already admitted I got the lot for $10, so there goes my pricing baseline.

    Bucket-o-tools score from yardsale

I hit a couple of yardsales this weekend, and scored a bunch of hand tools at one of them. There were a few 5gal buckets around with different stuff in them, one with tools was spilled out onto a blanket. Seller said 'free bucket with purchase, take the lot.' The bucket was probably 2gal full...

A garage find and an Aw S#$%

I did something similar...pulled off the road to park for a yard sale, ran over the rebar lot marker hiding in the tall grass. It went right through the sidewall, so no way to repair it. The tire wasn't worn out, but...it was worn enough that didn't seem like a good idea to replace just one...
