36X30 addition to my 24X30 Garage

Thanks. No there is not a weather seal that I know of. Each vane has a rubber strip on the bottom edge, but it's not weather proof. That is why it is on the south side and fairly well protected by trees on that side. Most of our weather comes from the north and northwest. Tinbender, it is...

    Installed Bendpak XPR-10C-168

Thanks for the comments. I have always wanted a lift and when I built this addition, I made provisions for the tall Bendpak. I also wanted upstairs storage above the office and restroom, hence the 14'6" ceilings. I delayed buying a lift for a few months deliberating on whether or not to buy...

36X30 addition to my 24X30 Garage

Last fall I started building this addition on my garage. I built back on my lot as far as I could, 30' and made it 36' wide, using 6' of the full length of the new addition for a small office, (clean room for test equipment and books), restroom and full length storage above the office and...

    Installed Bendpak XPR-10C-168

About 3 weeks ago I installed a two post lift, a Bendpak XPR-10C. Installation went well, my brother and I spent about 6 hours the first day and about 4-5 hours the next day to finish it up. That's counting time to eat lunch, etc. Overall quality of the lift seems very good. A few little...

    Harbor Freight drill press review?

Go look at a Craftsman drill press, one of their bigger models. They are of decent quality import stuff. Look at it closely, then compare the HF to it. If the HF is a better made drill press, go for it. Otherwise, the Craftsman would be the minimum quality I'd go for, and it's not great.

Are Radiant Heat Manifolds Worth The Money

I have SS manifolds with the flow meters and adjustable valves. They work ok if you are using high flow rates but my system runs better with the pump set to low speed. The flow meters do not have enough resolution to make any meaningful flow adjustments at low flow rates. But, you can verify...

Painting OSB walls, what to use

Well thanks a lot for all the suggestions. I put one coat of Kilz, the original, then two coats of True Values best acrylic latex. It covered real well with just one finish coat, but looks better with two coats. It is a lot better paint than the Conco at Menards, but $10 per gallon more...

    Ceiling fans hum

I installed the Pass & Seymour DDH16PW fan controller. Three position speed control. On anything but high speed the second fan on the curcuit will eventually stop, which is not good on the fan motor. There is no hum now though. So I guess I'll have to put the fans on separate curcuits and...

What do you use for sound in your garage/shop

I guess I should have said that the room I'm wanting sounds in is 36X30X14. I will have the laptop and receiver in my small office. Only want the speakers out in the shop.

What do you use for sound in your garage/shop

In my old garage I used an old Panasonic boom box. It has played non-stop for the last 25 years or so. Still going today, but I want something better for my new part. I have an old receiver I want to connect my laptop too. Stream music from the laptop to the receiver, but still have FM...

I need a one hour timer

Can someone suggest a simple 120VAC timer that will run a fan for 5 minutes every hour or every two hours, 24/7. The fan draws no more than 1A. If the power goes off, I don't want to have to re-program it.

CATV in the new garage, how to boost?

Right now I have a drop amp in the basement feeding three TVs in the house with no splitters. I have 3 more outputs from the drop amp to use. I was going to connect the RG-6 to one of them. But then in the garage I'd have to split it to run to the office and the main room. Would I be better...

CATV in the new garage, how to boost?

I have a new RG-6 cable pulled to my new garage along with a couple of new Cat 5E cables. I plan to connect the RG-6 to my drop amp in the house, hoping it will boost the signal enough to have a good picture in the garage. The run to the garage is about 60' then another 25' to the TV in the...

Painting OSB walls, what to use

I have OSB on my walls. Please no lectures why Drywall is better. Let's leave it at, each to his own. Can someone suggest a white paint that will cover in at least 2 coats? That's a primer coat and a finish coat. No doubt to much to ask for one coat coverage on OSB. I bought some of...
