Studebaker Dealership - Home & Hobby shop

No not really... it's about projects that convert one type of use to another. It could be where a firehouse is converted into a restaurant or a home or old movie theater into an art gallery. There are many of these conversions/renovations occuring with in blocks of where I live. In fact, When...

Studebaker Dealership - Home & Hobby shop

Update Yes the HGTV photo shoot was done back in July. It was a full day, 10 people, 3 cameras rolling and never a dull moment. The program is called "ReZoned" with Tony Frassrand as host. One camera spent most of the day with my wife filming the residence above my shop. The second camera was...

Finally! I'm making progress in the "shop"! I got the lift installed and working last night...a 2 poster VBM / Challenger and it works GREAT! In fact I used it this morning to put brakes in the wife's car. The "Men's" room, complete with a urinal, and "Ladies" room are done. What was...

    Work garage vs Show garage?

OK...Nice shop! I agree that is clean and should be clean. But I would define this as a general automotive service garage: Take old parts off - put new (out of the box) parts on and maybe a few tuneups. and that's my point.. I'm sure they don't do welding, grinding and and body work...

New guy, with dream garage being built

What about the ceiling? Same thing...I used steel on the ceiling too! My trusses were 9' apart so the ribbed panels spanned it just fine and did not sag. It helped reflect the light too then between two of the trusses, I boxed it in so I could raise a vehicle up between the trusses on a...

New guy, with dream garage being built

Just a suggestion... Before you proceed with drywall, consider insulating the walls and cover them with the same steel as on the outside of your building. I did mine and it was cheaper, faster, cleaner and less labor intensive. Think about hanging the sheetrock, taping sanding painting ect...

    Work garage vs Show garage?

Let's be clear I have an aquanitence who says he "builds cars" and is able to keep his garage showroom clean. The fact is he sends his parts out to be stripped or sandblasted then plated or powdercoated. He has a fab shop do all the metal work ie Fabricating, patching, welding & grinding...

    What to use on shelf?

Bill, I like how you incorporated the electrical outlets into the workbench legs! That puts them where they are handy as opposed to on the wall. The work bench top looks thick...solid core door? Also...are you sure that's a garage? It looks more like a spare bedroom or den in your house...

    Work garage vs Show garage?

Dream garage One place that inspired me to do my project was a friend of a friend who had a huge pole building. He had it partitioned off into distinctly different areas: STORE ROOM: Racks and shelving stocked with an assortment of labeled parts for his works in progress DIRTY ROOM: This...

    Lets see your workbench

Elevator door! A friend gave me a 44" x 84" stainless steel elevator door. It's really heavy, sturdy and purdy! I'm planning on using it for a work bench top though its almost too nice! I'd hate to mess it up!

    Work garage vs Show garage?

There are some really awesome garages featured here. But let's be honest, a true working garage is impossible to keep showroom clean! Who does welding & grinding & bodywork and painting and still be able to keep their garage clean? Let's face it, if all you're gonna do is bend a few wrenches...

    one of my favorite garages...

GREAT garage! Isn't it nice when a plan comes together? I really like the sink in the work bench though I might be tempted to use it as a parts washer. I see an air hose reel...where's the compressor? Nice job there Scott!
