Ratchet Issues: brand new Proto and SK 1/4 drive

Woke up one day thinking, wow all my ratchets are snap off, diversification is clearly needed... Purchased a 3/8 Mac Axis flex ratchet; feels great works great, I liked it better then my snap on instantly. Thinking i'll fill some missing 1/4 drive sizes with brand new and amazing ratchets; SK...

    Snap-On 25" ratchet durability/use

the 24'' 1/2 drive Snappy ratchet was one of the best tools i have bought more useful then i could have ever imagined. Would not say Snappy (its sooo buttery) is a must but a 2' ratchet comes highly recommended.

    Walton Tap Extractors

Nice job getting the tap out. Some times they can be almost impossible! If the tap is too stuck or someone totally messed up the area; the best option is a machine shop with a tap/metal arc disintegrator. Video of one in action:

Short Deep Offset (60 deg) Box End Wrench Set

I bought the SAE snap on set about a year ago, BUT i don't think S/O makes it anymore. I would ask your truck guy or look at eBay. My set is 1/4-13/16, i'll check if i have the part number someplace. SK might make a stubby metric set similar thread...

    Fender Covers

Of all the fender covers and seat covers i have used the best has been http://www.albertacom.com/members/clintcrick/NEIDW08apr13/index.htm removable washable back, magnetic strips and hooks to hold them in place. Different sizes for huge or very small fenders. The seat covers are fantastic By...

What do you use a swivel head ratchet for?

one nice thing about roto heads is you can apply pressure at an angle. the first ratchet i ever bought was a roto, used them on everything for years. I do find my roto's are underused and i have expanded my ratchet collection massively.

    Quality head stands ?

At work we used the Vee type for grinding seats and what not. Once the foam on the metal wears off just slip some heater hose over and good as new or better! http://www.goodson.com/Ultra-Sturdy-Cylinder-Head-Holders/ Nothing wrong with some 2x4's covered in a rag or some nice scrap leather from...

    Rock Island Vises - History/Info?

I had posted this in the "vises of GJ" but the info has a better home in this thread: in 1957 the Britman electric company merged with Whirlpool. Apparently whirlpool wanted to extend their line of consumer electronics. I imagine the information on the fate of Rock Island manufacturing is some...

    Engine Cleaning

+1 on using FUEL. It turns out horrible non burnable Ethanol (about to send back to the EPA the gas too on so much h20) gas works way better for cleaning nasty parts then actual fuel. Just cleaned a ultra dirty Tr250 diff and carrier in about 1 hour to spotless clean (dunked in a bucket). Purple...

Abrasive chop saw blades that stop cutting

probably not practical, but spraying or dribbling some grinding coolant or lube before or during the cut might help cool it a little.

    US made 12mmx1.5 tap?

Depending on the threads original fit spec i usually find using a chaser gives a tighter fit then re cutting with a tap. I have worked at places ware both a tap or re threader was the norm. If you don't want to buy a re threader set you can take a bolt and cut a few slits into the sides (this is...

Never seen this bench grinder before!

dont know if its anything, but there are scrape marks around the label. Label also looks a little too good for being on the front of a grinder for shop use. Still an interesting looking grinder.
