    good marking pen/pencil for metal

The Silver Streak pencil by Laco mentioned above has a sharpener built into the cap. Just pull off the cap, flip it over, insert the lead into the hole, and twist. Couldn't be simpler.

And while we're at it... another what is it?

Looks like what we used to put in tee slots of a stamping press to make moving dies easier. The dies had a solid bottom plate with cutouts for scrap to fall through,

I've had my Fluke 87V for nearly twenty years and it performs very well. Had it serviced once to verify accuracy.

Question for those who’ve used Fluke 87v and 88v

Love my fifteen or so year old 87V. It's been used quite a bit and I doubt I would trade it for anything. Expensive but worth every dime.

    Plasma Cutter or Oxy/Acetylene Torch?

Depends on what you are cutting and how neatly it needs to be cut. Most plasma dross can be removed neatly and quickly with a chisel.

Favorite brick and mortar store for hand tools.

I prefer any store where I can handle the tools myself, rather than ask a counter guy to get something for me. I like Home Depot because it is close to me.

Thoughts on Dewalt DCF902 compact 12V impact?

I don't know about those two, but I bought the Dewalt 1/2 in. mid range DCF894 and am thrilled with it. It is compact, lightweight, and has 330 ft. lbs. of torque. Plenty of nuts for what I need.
