There are ways to improve your chances of successfully welding cast iron. As has been said pre-heat is required. It can be mig welded with a high nickel welding wire. Using a ball peen hammer on the weld while still red hot helps stress relieve the repair to increase your success rate Post heat...

Not sure how warm it is going to be for a while but being able to at least leave the tools I am using for construction in the shop without having to carry them back to my small garage every night to secure them is going to be a time saver for sure......lll

WhoooooooHoooooo a major milestone for the shop build.......main door showed up today and got enough panels installed tonight that I could actually lock the building up.

Strouty has the right Idea..........backhoes and small excavators are for small jobs........you will be farther ahead to buy a large excavator and hire out the jobs where it wont work...........

Well the door install is "stalled" apparently it missed the freight cutoff and wont be here til next week now.........ah well have some building wrap to install and a pile of firewood to split..........

Thanks for stopping in The metric imperial thing is weird here for my generation at least...... I was in grade school when the conversion from Imperial measurement to the metric system occurred...........it only partially took and not just for me. For instance I have no Idea how many miles it...
