How to store a full size bronco top up high?

That's the plan, have it so I just back in and lift it off. Because of my ceiling height, the height of the bronco, location of the garage door opener center track, I may have to get a bit creative to get the room I want, I want it as high up as possible, which means it will be right next to...

How to store a full size bronco top up high?

Found this link: http://www.garagejournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=48015 And the couple pictures. Ratchet straps it is. I'll use the 2x4's and eyelets, as I already have them. Looks not to bad, just need to find the best spot in on the ceiling to put the top and get to working on it. Its...

How to store a full size bronco top up high?

Yeah same thing as a truck topper, just a little bit lighter due to small size and no back/front windows. What did you use to secure it to the ceiling, same thing? You wouldn't happen to have some pictures would you? Thanks.

How to store a full size bronco top up high?

Like the title says, looking for some ideas on storing my bronco top for the summer in my tiny garage. I have a vaulted ceiling in the garage, and would like to store it up high out of the way, because of the lack of space I have. But I have no idea on the best way to do this. I was thinking...

Mud truck axle project, meritor 5 ton planteries & ford 9"

Then started welding the knuckles to the tube. Started with the crown alloy 44-30 mig wire for the first pass and as a butter layer to cover the entire face of the ductile cast iron knuckle. Then welded the rest out with er100 wire (what I have to use on the truss as well). Not the prettiest...

Once that was complete the truss was removed in two pieces to facilitate prepping the parts for welding.

6k is doable, I'll have about 3k in diff/tires. The rest is fairly lightweight with the only question mark in putting me over that 6k mark being how crazy I go with the cage work. Anyway I finished the final top flange/cover pieces for the truss, and they are cut/ground/fit up.

The axles don't take any more power to turn them normal, truck when complete will be in the 6000lb range. That said I'm running 800hp. The overkill is more for longevity, think of doing tough truck for 10 years without having to touch the axles.

Repeatedly . . . . I'm building so I don't ever have to touch it again, and plus when I get to upgrading the truck (axles, tires, chassis, etc) years down the road, these will already be up to whatever task i throw at them.

    BBQ smoker in the works

Once you have one that big its hard to go back. Love the build, I'm due to build another one to replace my current one. I'm wanting to build a very similar style as well.

Yup, two 1/4" plates (1/2" total) on the very top and back, and a 1/4 cap on the angled side in between.

And started cutting plate. Plan is to do a top and back box truss, with tying the them together, will end up being way overkill, especially with the high strength steel, I'll toss up some link on the welding a little later on, as with the ductile cast iron housing & the high strength plate...

Some updates. Started on the truss, all pieces are being made with cardboard templates first, then the steel is cut and ground to fit.

Yeah borrowed it, you can buy them easy enough though, or using DOM tubing of the right sizes you can rig one up to get it close enough.

    A Watts linkage alternative

Yep, wishbone setup, nothing new about that. Typically the double end is at the frame in front of the axle , opposite to yours, and solid mounted and only single lower links. Turns it into a nice simple 3 link.

I suppose you can go that low if you want with a 9", but that's a lot of work for a forklift, there are other planetary diffs (from a zoom boom) that would likely be better. Meritor tubes are squarish, rectangle with the caster cast into the housing.
