Anything you wish you had under the slab? (other than radiant)

My shop is 50x50. I put outlets every 10' around the perimeter on the walls. For the most part it is great but when working in the middle of the shop it takes a lot of extension cord to reach. A 25' cord often is tight and stringing out a 50' cord is a hassle. I wish I ran electrical in the slab...

What is this for in a snap on box?

No problem. I have used those brake tools more times than I care to remember. I actually bought them in high school. Man I love disc brakes and I hope I never have to use them again. I always jack myself up with those darned springs.

What is this for in a snap on box?

It is not hinged and doesn't lock. It just lays there and can be picked up and removed.

What is this for in a snap on box?

Haha yeah I know that. I meant the tray cover thing. I guess as the other post said it is to write on.

    Sae, what's the point?

I don't work on a lot of new vehicles. I buy new ones under warranty and trade them before the warranty is up. The vast majority of the stuff I work on is standard.

Just bought the Harbor Freight US General 56 top & bottom toolbox today

What do you do with all those Milwaukee batteries? I have a about ten fuel 18v tools and only four batteries and with two of us working we can't run them down faster than they charge. Nothing wrong with it more is always better just curious. I like the box. I have had the HF 44 combo for about...

    Top box for KRL1033?

I just bought a used KRL1033. This is my first "quality" tool box and I really know very little about them. Looking online it seems most people put a hutch on top of it. The snap on website is overwhelming to a newbie like me. What is the correct model of box to go on top? I would not...

    Underhoist oil drain

I have the 8 gallon lisle and it is a nicely made product but I don't like emptying it. You have to remove the tall tube and funnel to be able to pour the oil out and in they are messy and drip oil everywhere. I want to upgrade to one that pumps the oil out. Either that or I have thought about...

Internet over a long distance - 1.5 miles

Is there anyway to wirelessly with some kind of super duper high power antenna towers transmit an high speed Internet connection over approximately 1.5 miles? Where I live our fastest option is DSL and it is horrible. I had a faster connection back in a rent house in 2002. We can barely watch...

    RapidAir 1/2 or 3/4"?

There is more to it than that. There are pressure losses over the length of run that can be quite substantial. Even if you are using a 3/8 coupler a 1/2 line could be the bottleneck if it is long enough. As previously stated OP's compressor is not exactly huge so 1/2 should be able to keep up...

    Bendpak HDS14 or HDS14X?

I am trying to decide between these two lifts. I will be lifting 3/4 and 1 to trucks with flatbeds and lots of weight on the beds. The trucks will weigh up to 12k so hence the 14 and not a 9. The trucks are all long beds and either extended or crew cabs. Max wheelbase would be 169". The...

Help me decide where to place air filter

I do not have a drain on the underground part. I could not really see a way to put one easily without digging a pit. The copper line in my shop is about 7' off the ground. My only concern with the filter before the first drop is that would essentially be connecting it to a rubber hose coming...

Help me decide where to place air filter

I am trying to decide where to place an air filter for my compressor. I bought a large Speedaire unit to place on my main line. Here is my setup. Compressor located in shed with 50' of 3/4" hose running underground to my shop. Inside my shop the hose connects to 3/4" copper pipe. About a foot...

    Air compressor lines and filtration

Use black pipe or copper. It is not hard to do and doesn't have to be elaborate unless you want it to be. You could run 25' of copper line for probably $50 or less. I have used air compressors with just a hose and under heavy use they spray water out. My setup now with copper line I get none.

    Financing a garage

Don't borrow money for it. Pay as you go. I used to borrow money for all kinds of things but stopped and it has been the best decision I have ever made. If you have 3k get started on your project and then that will motivate you to save more and work extra to finish it.

    Sandblasters

I am looking into getting my first sandblaster. I have never been around them, or even seen one in action. We are in the process of restoring some old trucks that need sandblasting and I am always welding stuff that I think I could use it to help clean welds on, etc. Anyway I wanting to buy...

    copper or black iron pipe

3-5 psi per hour is a lot of leakage. My system has over 200' of copper pipe. It was the first time I had ever worked with copper. I had it pressured up to 150 psi and shut off my compressor as I was going out of town for 3 weeks. When I came back I looked and it was between 145 and 150 psi...

    Remote Air line?

My compressor is in the building next to my shop. I ran 2" PVC between the two and then pulled a regular 3/4" rubber air hose through it. I got the 25' 3/4" hose from grainger for $50 or so. You won't need 1" with the CFM you are talking about.
