Model T pickup bed - More like resurrection than fabrication

I picked up this rough 1926-1927 Ford model T bed. I'm starting to resurrect it and trying to make it usable again. Its not a restoration project, just going to make it solid. I making patch panels for the rotted lower sides. Just starting to take down the heavy rust and see how bad it is.

    Built a chop saw workstation

I use my chop saw quite a bit for home projects. Because of the mess it makes I use it out in the driveway. To make it easier to use I made a workstation stand for it. The basic stand frame was left over from another project. I added wheels so it could be rolled in and out of the garage...

    Inexpensive welding helmet light

When using my MIG I never seem to have light in the right place to see what I'm about to weld. I have a HF auto-darkening helmet, but it is still hard to see. After getting some ideas off the web, I went to the local HF store and bought a 5 LED light that is made to wear on your head with an...

Cool Old Barrett Brake Riveting Machine

I'm a self-confessed vintage tool junkie. I've had my eye out for one of these machines for several years. But you know how it is, you rarely find an affordable one nearby. Its always on the other side of the country. But every once in a while the stars align and the tool gods confer their...

    Vintage service station lamp restore

I picked up this old outdoor service station. I've always like the looks of these. As you can see it was showing its age. I decided to restore mount it over my old Champion drill press. I also picked up a cool old porcelain switch to control it along with vintage style cloth covered...

    7" AMMCO metal shaper

Last week I picked a great little 7" AMMCO metal shaper to add to my small home machine shop. Its a neat tool, in very good condition with little wear except for the paint. I made the table top and chip pan, and added it to an old tool stand I already had. I still need to get the switch wired...

    Antique Champion Type K compressor

I stumbled on this recently and am curious about its age. Its a type K. I'm guessing its from the 1920s, but could be way off. Does anyone have more info on these? It appears to be just the compressor, no tank, regulator etc.

Whatsit - antique power wire stripper?

I sure find some off-the-wall stuff for sale. The seller thinks this is an machine for stripping insulation off of wire. It appears to have a clutch mechanism too. It sort of looks like an old industrial sewing machine motor/clutch assembly too. What do you think?

Is this a good Columbian vise?

I don't know much about Columbian vises, but saw this advertised locally. Been looking for a good quality, USA made swivel vise to replace an old fixed vise on my garage bench. What do you think? What's a fair price to pay?

Kellogg air compressor from the roaring 20s!

A couple months ago my wife and I stopped in an antique shop that was way off the beaten path. I saw this really cool old Kellogg air compressor. I really liked it, but told myself I really didn't need it and we moved on. Well - Christmas morning after our usual stockings and gift exchange...

Drill bits for Blacksmith"s drill press

I'm looking for original style drill bits to use in my Champion Blower and Forge drill press. All of these bits, regardless of drill size have a 1/2" shank with a flat machined on one side. I'm looking for bits under 1/2" in size. I'm sure many of you have boxes full of old bits picked up at...

Refurbishing Buck Rogers Ray Gun Drill

i've always liked the old aluminum cased power tools, especially those of the 1950s that had that really cool look to them. I picked up this drill a few weeks ago - it was a $10 clunker. But I was drawn to the Buck Rogers ray gun styling. The name tag is missing, but its a Speed Way model...

Modifications to the HF 4 and 5 drawer service carts - what changes have you made?

There have been several recent threads related to the HF service carts; reviews, how you've organized them, where to get coupons etc. Scattered in these I've seen a couple modifications. I thought it would be interesting to start a thread to capture the changes, improvements or other...

Tell me about this Craftsman Vise

This Craftsman #5181 vise is for sale locally. Can anyone tell me who made it? About how old it is? I can't quite tell from the photo if it has removable jaws. There is not much in the description except calling it an "antique" vise. What would you give for it?
