    Dead Man Switch

John: I find the foot switch handy to start, and stop also. I just don't want my granson stepping on a switch, and the machine start when he's not ready. Also, that cheaper 15 amp switch is proably not rated for startup amperage draw. The larger switch can proably handle it though. I make it a...

    Dead Man Switch

Thought I would post this after seeing the thread on the drill press mishap. My 13 yr old gran son loves to work out in my shop, and safety is foremost. I have installed Safety foot switches on most of my tools. The large sealed safety switch is rated 20 amps spdt. Cost $94.61 #7372K11, I add...

    Need Hydraulic and Pneumatic help?

Here's a couple more pics. I used hvy dty quick connects so I could switch between the original hand pump, and the air pump. It lets me do small delicate work when needed. The air over works great, very fast acting, and will pump up to the 50 ton max of my unit. The press is a Grizzly I bought...

    Need Hydraulic and Pneumatic help?

I converted my 50 ton press to air over hyd. I used a 10,000 psi treddle hyd pump from Northern Tool, about $300 made by the old BlackHawk outfit. I could have used it as a foot operated, but chose to mount it on the side so the original hose would work. Here's a couple pics. Rich

    Anyone turn shelves into "cabinets"?

These cab.'s actually started out as 2 sets of shelves on each side of the window. I added a top to enclose the cabinet, and cut pieces to go in between the shelfs. 1" x 2"'s were used to mount doors on. Later I made the TV cabinet to join them. I do like wood working though, and I was able to...

    Anyone turn shelves into "cabinets"?

Here's some I added doors to. The first time I used 1/4" plywood which over the years warped. The last time I used 3/4" particle board, and routed the edges. Rich

    Engine test stand

I built this one several years ago. 1 1/2" amd 1" tube, there is no problem with torque rock since there is no mass on the flywheel. I have since narrowed the rear track so I can get close with a chery picker. A friend is using it now. Rich That last pic was taken with a 6 deg outside temp!

    Mini Lathe

Buck: I agree, the milling attachments are too limited, and setup time is a pain. seperate machines are the best way to go, I'm willing to wait for a deal to come up. I try to make every Auction near here! I just picked up an old 24" Rockwell scroll saw at a garage sale, works great! Heavy old...

    Mini Lathe

Dex: No I haven't tried to use it like a mill. There are milling attachments showing up on E-bay all the time for the Atlas. Here's a link to a small knee mill I would like to pick up. A little steep, but a very good example...

    Drill Press Milling Machine

Here's the setup your refering to on my 16 1/2" Delta. As everyone said it is not meant for milling! I do use it for spot facing, notice the MT2 milling adapter on the table. I have done very 'light' milling , but will chatter very easily under any heavy load. That's a Palmgren cross slide vise...

    Mini Lathe

Here's a pic of my Atlas QC54, very similar to Uncle Buck's. I found this locally for $250, and will have a grand in it with tooling, and repairs. I also added a Aloris style tool post (love it!), and went thru everything in the rebuild. I made a chip pan, and back splash for it. I scoured...

    Lawn tool/outdoor shed ideas...

I stick built mine as suggested, and matched the house trim. It's a 10' x 10' w/7' walls, used trusses from Manards. The base is 2"x10"s (treated) on a 2' grid w/3/4" tongue and groove plywood. It sits on patio blocks, visqueen, and gravel. Has 2" air vents all around. Rich

    Picture Request: ~20'x26' Detached Please

Here's a couple pics. Our code only allows 840 sq ft, and cannot be taller than house. At 29' square I was 841 which they bitched about! The garage started out at 18' x 24', I added 5' to the length, and added another stall. I recentered the roof so it would look better. After inspection I added...
