    RV leveling blocks

I made my template, picked up some 2X8 and traced out the blanks. I do not think I want to cut all of these, 12 so far with my jig saw. Need to pick up a band saw or head over to my bud's house and use his monster antique band saw.

    RV leveling blocks

Thanks for the responses, greatly appreciated. I will countersink the all thread, good idea. Your 5th wheel blocks look as good as my cabinetry work! Resin coating, Hmmmm. Skateboard tape, hmmmm Buying another set of ramps and fastening them together is $$$$ and I still only have a 4"...

    RV leveling blocks

Found some leveling ramps for the Roadtrek van conversion, on a 2002 Chevy 3500 cab&chassis. I ordered the levelers and they are 6 inch wide, my tire foot print is 8" wide. No way no how would I use a 6" block under a 8" tire and they do not offer a wider leveler. I am going to try to make...

    Car ramps

Thanks for the response, weight is the issue, I'm 75 now and saving a bit of weight looks good. Plus taking the ramp off would give me a bit more room to work under the unit. I measured and the 10 1/2" leaves me enough room, I think the tread width is about 8". Not committed to this yet.

    Car ramps

The heavy duty plastic car ramps have a 6 1/2 inch lift, I need at least 8 inch to level my Roadtrek RV in the driveway. The cheaper metal ramps with an 8 inch lift do not appear to be strong enough for my RV, a converted Chevy express cab and chassis. So I am looking at a DIY wood ramp...

    Bigger or smaller?

Interesting, Inverter mini splits modulate, ie adjust btu output to conditions. I do not remember exact numbers but my 9000 btu Daikin puts out between 4000 and 11000 btu. I wonder if that is true of the window units and mini splits also? I know with 100% certinty that mine are properly...

    Mini Split - 110V or 220V?

I am in FL with 3 minis in the house and it is a pain getting service. When they fail I am considering putting in window type AC units. As an experiment I put a LG 9500 dual inverter in my RV and it is a great unit so far, quiet, energy efficent. Look at the inverter window units.

    Cleaning Process for parts

Being a po boy and lacking a sonic parts cleaner. I use Pine Sol and often can save it for use as soap. I would buy a parts washer but rarely use one and have no room to store. Dish washer works well also if the wife is not home.

    Mig wire

One issue with the cheap flux core welders is they are AC current, DC is easier to use as the arc is more stable. If I were going to buy a welder instead of borrowing my neighbors $99 Harbor Frieght I would buy a DC unit. Some claim to be able to mod the cheap units to DC. Long time ago I...

    Line set length on min-split

I read in multiple places that no removal of gas is needed for less than 25'. Also most want the lineset minimum 10'

    Mig wire

Not sure which one to buy but the flux core that came with a cheap Harbor Freight welder was barely usable.

Senville "Leto" 24K btu mini-split installation

I am in hot humid Florida and run the mini's in dry mode for months at a time. The cost of heating with them has spoiled me and I use them for heat waaaaay more than I did with the resistant heat! ie way more at most 3 weeks in winter. Good luck

    New HVAC Installation Costs?

I will bet a dollar to a doughnut your 4 ton unit is too big and that most of the quotes you get will be to replace with a 4 ton! Sizing today is a science not a guessing game or should be ok and only one person mentioned a manual J. Any contractor that does not mention a manual J is not to be...

    DIY install of non-Mrcool units

Pretty sad that attorneys/tree huggers are writing install manuals> I would guess it is to conform with some Gretta Thrunburger inspired science.

    DIY install of non-Mrcool units

According to the guru's some leaks will show under pressure but not vacuum and vice versa. Being an incompetent hack I wanted as much testing as possible. 4 years and I did have a leak, but it was an evaporator coil, not one of my flairs.

    Marine quick disconnects

Will DIY, the ready made setups are fairly pricy. Running into an issue with the fittings mostly being 3/8, I would prefer 1/4 so am going to try and jam a 1/4 hose on 5/16 fitting. Thanks, I looked at the fittings and the ones I ordered are slightly different from what you posted, so ordered...

    DIY install of non-Mrcool units

IIRC Daikin University and what appears to be the knowledgeable techs on You Tube say to remove the light weight flair nuts and use the heavier ones on the units. Noticeable difference in the bulk and weight of the unit flair nuts.
