    Finishing my garage

Garage looks great. And so does the Camaro. Seems very well thought out. Do you have any pics or any info on the door tracks for the storage area? Not sure how they work. Thanks

    Great Garage Makeovers

If anyone has their copy with them, could you post the mfg's link for the PVC ceiling write up they did? I left my copy at home and wanted to do a little digging today at work. Thanks

    Shower Flooring

For the shower pan floor, I would recommend the schluter systems. http://www.schluter.com/8_4_kerdi_shower_kit.aspx It takes a lot of the guess work out the install. I am in the retail side of the tile business and we see alot of failures with improper shower pan installs. For the main...

Ceramic tile installation questions for the experts!

One piece at a time. You don't have to wait to do the seams. Make sure you use a latex/polymer modified thinset over the plywoood/ under the hardi-backer board. Good luck

    Race Deck Insulation Question

I used a landscaping felt underneath. I figured moisture wouldn't bother it. I was concerned about the laminate underlayment dealing with moisture and spills. Also, the free shipping is usually when they run their promo's (Father's day, etc.), but I think it is $2.69 anytime for GJ members.

    RaceDeck and Floor Drains

    1. Will the RaceDeck flooring tend to pull apart in the areas of the crown and the low spots near the floor drains? No. I have the same setup. No issues with pulling apart. In some areas the tile is almost "suspended" a little because of high spots in the concrete, but will push down when...

H&C Shield-Crete or SW Tile-Clad or Other? HELP PLEASE!

I was not impressed with the Shield-Crete. Seemed to be more of a paint than epoxy. Wasn't happy with the finished product and didn't hold up well. I was very complete with my prep work. Just covered it all with Racedeck.

    click/clack problem with plastic tiles

I put down landscaping felt/fabric. Very thin and moisture won't bother it. I laid out an area with and without and there was a big difference in noise. Hardly any with the felt.

    Kneeling On Diamond RaceDeck

I just put the circle track down about a month ago and finally got to work on a car last night. The circle track was nice to work on. The diamond pattern seems like it would be a little rougher on the body. I was working on the car without a creeper and was comfortable moving around. I...

Best Grinder to Rent and waht to look for

The one I had rented had 2 disks that each had 3 diamond "inserts". They didn't tell me a grit # or did it seem like there were any options. The inserts worked well and didn't take long to get the floor where I needed it. Just be careful not to get too aggresive as you can create lowspots or...

    Flooring questions

I can help you with # 2. Most porcelain tiles will be good. I would recommend finding a local tile store instead of using the box stores. Selection will be better and a lot better product. 12x12 would be a good size. You can go larger, if your floor is level. Working with larger tiles on...

    24' ceramic floor tile

Porelain is definately more durable. There are some ceramics that are suitable, but porcelain overall is stronger and has a better glazing.

    24' ceramic floor tile

Once they are installed, no different as far as cracking. Installation is a little more involved. If your floor is not perfectly flat, it does make it harder if there are ups and downs. Also, make sure you use a larger notched trowel, a 1/2" x 1/2" would be ideal. You want to make sure you...

    Anyone with Racedeck in Maryland?

Getting close to ordering and was wondering if anyone in the Baltimore/Annapolis area that has Racedeck flooring would let me take a peek? Just want to get a look at it installed and also walk around on it to see how I like it. Thanks Ryan

which floor tiles would be good ??

Any "quality" commercial-grade porcelain tile would be suitable and durable for the garage. Some of the cheaper ones may not hold up as well, but you should be able to find quite a few between $3-5 s/f. They of course, go up from there. If your garage is unheated, make sure you get something...

    Sherwin Williams Epoxy

I would make sure you get what you want. I was not impressed at all with the Shield - Crete. Put it down about 2 years ago. Seemed "thin" to me and scratches up pretty easily. Have actually considered re-doing my floor.

    Radiant heat tubing depth

I attached mine to the top of the steel mesh. I had used R-foil underneath for insulation. On a 4"+ pour, it would end up around 2" inches below the surface.

    Lighting the garage.

Looks good. I am almost done with my light install. I have a 28'x40' and put 4 rows of 4 8' T8s. Huge difference. I had 8 "temporary" 60w bulbs for 5 years and finally had enough.
