Almost Screwed Up and Bought an Anvil!

CL posting has now been deleted, so either he sold it or changed his mind. I'd have been interested at the original price, not at the new and revised price. Sigh, oh well....have to be content sitting back and waiting for my SK order. :willy_nil

Nice haul, Bull! Makes me wish mine would get here...but I'm being patient, really I am! Let us know how you like the gloves...might have to place a "Post SK day" order if the feedback on them is good. Then again, I might have to anyway...

Nonsense...show us what you got! Just because you did all the hard work setting this up, just like you have with previous group buys, doesn't mean you get to keep us in suspense! :D

Super-Exciting News for SK Day!! 9/23 and 9/24

Mine's not here yet....dammit, it's been 2 whole days! What's up with that??? Just kidding - can't wait for it to arrive, but I'm sure they're just a bit busy filling orders at HJE! Keep the pics coming to satiate my appetite until my order gets here...

    5/16 Annular Cutter

The one I posted is made by Champion, but I'm sure there are several manufacturers. I've used them a lot in my mag drill and love 'em...they work great.

VISE REPAIR 101 all vise repairs, lubricants, sources for parts and the tricks to fix

Still working on the Parker 272 - got it pretty much broken down into its constituent parts and cleaned everything in the parts washer, followed by a wire brush. Heres my question for yous smarter guys & girls: the jaw on the rotating jaw (is that redundant?) had somehow been wacked sideways...

VISE REPAIR 101 all vise repairs, lubricants, sources for parts and the tricks to fix

Simple question from a restoration newb - Parker 272, are the jaws held on with pins or set screws? Don't want to go trying to beat something out if it's got threads on it! :)

    The VISES of Garage Journal

Good call Outlaw - looked again and it still didn't appear that the hold was drilled thru, but after hitting the side of the static jaw with a grinder/abrasive wheel and removing all the accumulated crud, I could see where the pin came all the way thru. Took only moderate effort to drive it out...

I'll look again, but it appeared that it was not drilled all the way through...perhaps I missed it.

    The VISES of Garage Journal

Thanks gents - don't have the missing piece from the slide on the Reed, so it'll boil down to whatever slight modification makes it look best. For the Parker, it appears I have the original knob/pin used to secure the rotating jaw. For reasons unknown, somebody basically hammered a bolt into...

    The VISES of Garage Journal

Two that I picked up today - don't know that either qualifies as a "score", but they'll be fun. First is a Parker 272. Overall condition isn't too bad, just the usual signs of use. Biggest problem, probably typical of the type, is that somebody broke off the pin that locks the rotating jaw in...

So YOU'RE the guy....that's alright, it was too far for me to drive! :D Going tomorrow to pick up a Parker 272 for $89, so all is not lost!

    New toy for the workshop!!

They tried to force it down every mfr's throats (the inventor is a lawyer...'nuff said) When that didn't work, they designed and now sell their own saws under the Sawstop name. Nice idea, but his attempts to force everybody into adopting it have made many, many enemies...I won't buy one for...

    how to adjust snips

Just another option - put your location in your profile, perhaps a member near you would be willing to lend a hand. I have to agree that the Dremel option appears to be the better choice in this case (sorry!)
