    Hello from Michigan

Heh, another Ann Arborite! I'm actually in Ypsi, but did live in Ann Arbor for years and spend most of my working time there... Welcome!!

    Get new fridge through door!!!!

This. Open both doors, carry thru the doorway with no problem. Watched a couple of delivery guys do this and thought "why didn't I think of that?" Piece of cake...

    Garage overhaul has begun...

Will get some to document the process...got nothing yet, but there's nothing to photograph except my filthy car!

    Garage overhaul has begun...

Along with actively trying to get rid of clutter, I've actually taken steps to turn my garage into a workable space for both storing and servicing the cars! Kind of amazing, considering what a mess it's been.... Ordered a high-lift conversion kit for the door from DDM Garage Doors, should be...

Weather Broke and I Finally Picked Up the US General 56" Tool Box

Weather ain't broke here yet! Hopefully tomorrow...been itching to get in the garage and do some work, but it's been WAY too cold! You'll like that box...I have one, and a 44". Just sold the 5-drawer cart and am going to sell my Craftsman grip-latch stack and hope to consolidate everything...

    nuts and bolts

Tractor Supply sells surprisingly good hardware at reasonable prices. I always found Fastenal to be expensive, sometimes extremely so. McMaster Carr is excellent - prices are middle of the road, but the service is extraordinary!

Need help selecting stereo receiver, impedance??

You will need to install some sort of impedance-matching device. We used to use a few different ones - on the low end of the scale were simple little transformers that were wire-nutted to the speaker wires. At the high end was a piece (forget the mfr) that had much bigger transformers and nice...

To Lift or Not to Lift? That is the question.

M-Coupe.....drool! Can't help you with your question, but I'd kill for a lift and am currently scheming and trying to find a way to do a Bendpak SP-7x in my garage, mounted flush. Will be more than $900 though!

Tell me about my (chop?) saw

Wiring schematics for low voltage/high voltage are usually on the underside of the cover to the junction box (pic #3, post 19) The wires should have numbers on them, just match them up to the appropriate diagram.

    HF 5-drawer cart, Ypsilanti Michigan

Well...I bought one of these because of the great feedback they get on GJ, and it really is a nice cart. BUT, I have too many boxes and not enough space! Cart is unmodified (crazy, I know!) and has seen very light use. Has some very light scratches on the top from setting things there - I'll...

Super-Exciting News for SK Day!! 9/23 and 9/24

Got mine today, all the 'extras' included! Probably not worth a pic, just a set of deep sockets...but all was nicely packaged and looks first-rate! Thanks very much [again!] to all who made this happen, and specifically to HJE!

Super-Exciting News for SK Day!! 9/23 and 9/24

I suspect that, by now, HJE is looking at SK Day as both a blessing and a curse. Got to be hectic and a little crazy for an outfit that likely isn't used to dealing with this kind of order volume. My order is still backordered, and that's fine - it'll be here when it gets here. I don't think...

Anyone use a magnetic drill press in their shop?

I've used mine in the shop often - it's very handy when working on pieces too big for the drill press, for example.

    Baseboard/Crown/Casing Coping

There is (or was) something on the market that did this - worked much the same way as the old key-cutting machines. You used a scrap piece of the moulding as a template. Not sure how well it worked, have only seen one once...and for the life of me, I can't remember what it was called.

Thoughts on life after "SK day"

Still waiting for my order, but that's cool - I know they (HJE) are workin' hard and I'm in no hurry. Eager, yes...but in a hurry, no. I keep checking in on the SK-day sticky and reading the updates, and I see a recurring theme, i.e. "When is the next *** day?" Like everybody, I love the...
