    upgrade to 200amp?

You are lucky that your utility allows your shop to be billed as a residence. Not the case where I live, the utility periodically sends people around to survey their installations. Happened to be home when one came by and I asked what he was doing. It was a survey to make this determination...

    upgrade to 200amp?

My new garage / shop is across the road from the house so I put in its own 200 amp service. Like your's, my house has a 100 amp service. The service size with regard to power isn't a problem , however the number of circuits you can connect is. There are only 16 spaces in my 100 amp service, with...

    Don's 32 X 48 Two Story

Thanks Drives, still tweaking as I go. After this round of materials is in then will probably switch to outdoor work, except taping and mudding, which I'll do near the end of the month or next. In another week or so, will turn the water back on in the garage and dust off the mustang. Will also...

Walrus is correct. ASHRAE calls for vapor barriers in this region to have a permeability of .1 to 1. Most people use 6 mil plastic, which doesn't breath. Grace Tri-Flex has a permeability of .4, which is kind of a happy medium. Anyway thats the techie nerd response. Some people use the blue...

    Don's 32 X 48 Two Story

The first photo, a little blurry, is the hall with the office on the right. There will be a wall where you can see a 2x4 attached to the ceiling. Then there is another closet that will eventually have a cedar liner and the corner room, which still needs two more sheets of sheetrock. The last...

    Don's 32 X 48 Two Story

This is the office and yes thats a bottle of Jameson under the desk. There will be a counter and bookshelves along the wall where the TV is. After I finish mudding & painting the ceiling, the closet that has the OSB liner will be finished with aromatic cedar and the other will have a birch...

    Don's 32 X 48 Two Story

Haven't done much the last couple days except pick up some more materials and hump them upstairs. Did take a few photos today and will spread them out over a few post. This is the current catchall space on the west end of the building. Picked up a bundle of Safe & Sound insulation yesterday...

    Siding and Color Matched Flashing

For flashing, I went to a sheetmetal shop and ordered a couple sheets of coated aluminum that was close in color to my siding and had them cut and bend it. Trim to match the roofing came from the metal roofing materials provider, some pre formed and the rest in coils. Had the sheetmetal shop cut...

    Don's 32 X 48 Two Story

Drives & Dan, planing on posting a few more when I finish drywalling the corner room. If its not raining tomorrow I'm planning to pick up more materials, including enough drywall to finish the room, currently two sheets short.

    Attic lift...

I made them 4 ft wide so if needed, I can install a chair lift, which could also be used to get stuff up there.

    Attic lift...

I'm already in my 60s and I can tell you that stairs are way better than a ladder. In my 32 x 48, the second floor is 13 ft up. I built stairs with a landing at 12' and can roll my 4 post lift under the landing if I need to get something heavy upstairs. The lift won't get you all the way there...
