thanks for the responses, guys. I have always just lapped valves and seats, but I wanted to play with this and see what I can get out of it. It feels like there's probably about .005" clearance, comparing to how i remember valve guides I've checked in the past felt. I'm guessing it shouldnt...

it is a seat grinder like the one you pictured, yes. I'd like to use this machine if possible, just wondering what clearance is typical on something like this?

This seems like a long shot, but I know theres a lot of clever and experienced people on this board with a lot of varied expertise, so I thought I'd ask. Getting set up to grind some valve seats with an old Blue Point machine, I am feeling what seems like excessive slop when I slide the stone...

I wouldn't guess it's collectible, but you don't see it every day so I'll post this photo of an SPP806ARNBW "Rainbow" box.

Once again Dennis at BEAM is the man!! Walked me through it on the phone, all it needed was the collet wiped off and reinstalled. I was getting valve faces with less than 3 tenths runout before I even finished my coffee.

Was running this machine again this evening on some big Buick 455 valves, Im getting a ton of runout, like .006". can anyone point me in a direction for the truing process on this machine? Thanks in advance for any help!!

It's never a good sign when the one guy who knows is trying to buy it haha... I guess I will split it up on the 'bay since I have no use for it, seems a shame but that happens.

Not sure, tried to run the numbers but didn't find anything. If you have old Grumman books maybe it's there? The reams are .9960" and .9995" so gun to my head I'm guess the bush is 1"? I don't have a way to measure the tool that checks spacing but that'd probably give a clue.

ZRX, I've read your posts on here, you definitely seem to be the guy for aerospace stuff. I have no idea what it's worth but I'm sure it cost someone a fortune at some point. I'd trade it for something cool?

The only thing I could use it on would be if my bikes use a bronze bush that's 1.000" ID but I don't think any of them does.

Not sure, when did Snap On use that logo? Seems like they used it till the 80's but i'm not the expert.

My girl moved out so I set it up in the kitchen. Gonna scrounge the side yard for a roached out donor head and see if I can remember how to do a valve job.

Thought I'd make an update, just got this thing running and when I googled it my own photo brought me back to this thread I started way back. I took the pump apart, from what I saw, I can't imagine one of these pumps ever going bad. I think most of the people who replace the pump are just making...
