What is a good inexpensive welder to learn with?

Even once you graduate to a bigger machine, you will still be glad to have a 110 mig machine around just for easy portability. I got the Millermatic 140 and it has been great for me. Since nobody has mentioned it, weldingtipsandtricks.com is a really phenomenal resource. Also, the instruction...

    Plvmb 4070 3-jaw Puller Find!

I have some Snap On pullers and an old bucket of Proto and Craftsman pullers from an oldtimers garage. I always end up using the old Proto's, seems like they fit when the Snappy jaws are too fat. Cool score!

Souped-Up Tools/Machinery: What have you done?

Hey, who's the ******* that emptied out my chucks drawer and put a bunch of siezed useless chucks in there ?!?

Craftsman dual shaft electric motor - disassembly questions

Few taps with a toffee mallet? At the joint where the cap meets the center ring, I mean. Is that key in the cap's way?

Souped-Up Tools/Machinery: What have you done?

I will have to get some photos when I get back to the shop, but... Did you use the threads on the grinder to put the chuck on or did you turn the shaft and press the chuck on?

    Welder/fabricator tool thread.

Maybe this is regional, but the thing nobody seems to have enough of around here for welding is space. You can weld in a one car garage but it sure isn't the best way.

    2014 Garage sale thread!

SGV can be a promised land for this stuff, there was a lady in Monterey Park who was selling me junk for three weekends running. Every other garage out there is full of dirty old clamps, pullers, and unmatched sockets. Get after it!

Ideas for a portable tool box?

Wow, I had no idea these things were so expensive. Got mine free 20 years ago and it's still kicking, although TSA got one of the latches busted up. http://www.stanleysupplyservices.com/jensen-tools-jtk-2001s-technicians-service-kit-with-slimline-poly-attache-case/p/jtk-2001s Anyways, this is...

Ideas for a portable tool box?

Man, that snappy in Lubbock is a steal!! That's the way to go, but 14" limits the choices of course. I work with bands on tour and when we fly I take one of those little tech briefcases that you see around. A couple of those might be good?

    Torx Screwdrivers which Brand ?

I hate them all but the hard handle Snappys are what I have. If you have a truck that comes by, seems like an item that will want to be warrantied fairly often.

    Air ratchets?

I have the older version, the red one and it's great for me. I don't know how it compares to others but I use it a lot. It's funny how fast I got dependent on it, been doing everything by hand since I was little and now when I have to actually use a ratchet I get all bratty.

Need a 13" deep puller w very little clearance

    After a closer look, they must be original. <a href="http://s19.photobucket.com/user/picturedlife/media/Mobile%20Uploads/20140313_081942_zpse9d59674.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b168/picturedlife/Mobile%20Uploads/th_20140313_081942_zpse9d59674.jpg"...

Need a 13" deep puller w very little clearance

I love that puller! I got mine in a haul from an oldtimers garage, never knew they still made it. Mine has some springs that keep the jaws from sliding around, no idea if theyre original or something from the previous owner. They look almost like socket rail springs. I use that puller more than...

It can probably be done, would have to see what you're seeing, but those switches are pretty cheap. Why did you take it apart? Welcome!

    Why truck brands

I believe it was Jung who said a person's worth depends on his capacity for play. Boutique stuff turns lame chores into play, for me at least. I never thought I'd have even a craftsman set, now I've blown all my money on tools for a few years and I love it.
