    Show us your welding projects

Aussie company called Macnaught make all sorts of fluid transfer kit. Called BOP20 (battery operated pump). You get one motor/battery/charger in this kit. https://au.macnaught.com/bop20-starter-kit And then a stem for each oil container so don't cross contaminate oil or need to move oily...

Oil service cart that I made. I built the frame but had a sheet metal shop make the trays - too big for my home made bender.

    Whats your favorite 'unique' tool?

Does the shaking just loosen any rust/debris? I can't see how this would loosen a nut.

    Whats your favorite 'unique' tool?

What is it's purpose? Does this rotate/remove nuts or do you just put on an an impact socket to use as drift/punch?

Am I Being **** or Should I Make a Stink About this Tekton 3/8 Torque Wrench?

The use of both the words "****" and "stink" in the title made me gag.

Materials for a mechanics workbench top

So it's done. I used the floor epoxy - about 2L. Gave me 100% coverage. The slight distortion from the welding is gone and it seems like it will work. Here is the finished product!

Materials for a mechanics workbench top

That is today's plan exactly. It's done in 4 pieces and then TIG'd together. Was cheap though AUD$600 including the materials and labour. I'll test fit it today and it might just sit there nice and snug. If not I'm going to try the floor epoxy that I have. I reckon epoxy is all the same...

Materials for a mechanics workbench top

Yes, I've used that technique. But this has a lip at the front (shown in photo - bench is upside down in photo) so you can't pull the sticks out from the front. It is 5.7m long (~19 feet) so you can't pull 5.7m sticks from the side. It needs to slide into position and be repositionable before...

Materials for a mechanics workbench top

I ended up with a 1.2mm stainless top on 32mm MRMDF. The Formply idea for the base is a goo one but I don't think adhesive will take to it. It's really slick. What adhesive should I use? Contact cement is great but you can't slide into position. I have some left over epoxy floor paint. Can...

Need a set of long wrenches - 15 degree or zero offset?

I really like this logic. I'm definitely leaning towards these but only 14-19mm. I don't need high-leverage wrenches for small fasteners

    Jack Stands Under Pinch Welds?

The trick isn't lifting from the pinch welds but the way it mates. The scissor jack slots over the vertical metal and puts weight on the horizontal plate next to it. Floor jacks / jack stands tend to be flat and bend the pinch weld over. As long as have a block of gardwood with a slot cut in...

Need a set of long wrenches - 15 degree or zero offset?

Hi All I'd like to hear some opinions on what would be a better next investment. I'm doing some chassis tear downs and refurb of a few hobby race cars for me and buddies and want some longer wrenches for suspension, subframes etc. I currently have the following SnapOn sets: - Standard...

Adding rear seat belts to an 64 Ford Fairlane

As az45 said those plates used to install racing harnesses is the right approach. FYI the Confederation of Australian Motors Sports rules say: where a safety harness is affixed to an un-reinforced section of the body shell, each attachment point shall be reinforced by the use of a plate not...
