I have two in mind. I am working out the plans for a new coffee table for the living room. Mission style of course. Also planning a table lamp. I have an antique craftsman style hanging light with beautiful glass for that one  It will also be made from quartersawn white oak.

Drives: It looks like the shop will be pretty much a permanent home. If you saw the thread about the Stickley styled bookcase I built you will see that our style in the home has evolved into mission or craftsman and that old country cabinet will not fit in.

    How to preserve the patina

I found this tractor hood and plan to make a hanging shop light with it. The plan is to mount LED lighting in it and hang it over one of my work areas. After cleaning this up, do you have any suggestions for a coating or sealer to preserve the look? Thanks

I found this at an auction probably 25 years ago. The base was trash. I planned on making a new base but it long ago found a place in my shop.

How ironic you mention Ottawa. These pics were taken in Ottawa in 2017. The aftermath of the tornado that tore up the south side. I think I hauled out 15 logs over 30" in diameter.

I did. I have a knack for sniffing out huge old oak logs. I also have the equipment to move them. I know a guy with a sawmill and he does all of my milling. Only white and bur oak and everything quartersawn. I pass on red oak logs. Probably have about a dozen more 30"+ logs out there to cut.

Thanks The finish is a several step process that really does highlight the QSWO rays. After sanding, a waterbased dye was used to set the undertone color. A coat of SealaCell was applied to seal the wood. Java colored gel stain was applied and wiped off, the sealer stops the rays from...

    Woodworking 101--Tools and Tips

It is a beast to move for sure. I really do like the ship lapped back but it does add weight. I am fortunate to have an enormous amount of wood stashed so I always use solid wood. I do like the idea of sliding dovetails

Thanks everyone. Fortunately, I have many thousands of board feet of quaretersawn white oak stashed away. It should last several lifetimes

    Racine Tool and Machine bandsaw

Correct That is a 12” Yates jointer. The plan is for that to go into my shop as well.
