    This can only lead to

I'm conversing with Mohawk about an A7 lift. They say they finance them...this can only lead to telling my wife that there really is a Santa Clause.

I bought Ingersoll-Rand oil at Tractor Supply for my IR.

If I have to jack hammer the floor

I think I'll consult an engineer before I start believing that I know what I'm talking about. But what if instead of just cutting a 3x3 squares under the posts....what if I cut 3x whatever between the posts and connected them with rebar and concrete? In all honesty, that wouldn't be much more work.

If I have to jack hammer the floor

If I don't have enough pad depth to make me happy, wouldn't it be smarter to saw out a 3'x3' section where each post would go. Then dig down about 12" to 18" inches; tie in as much rebar as possible and then attach "J" studs to the rebar and up through the pad and sit the posts on those? That...

What if your concrete floor isn't 4+ inches?

I'm going to do something to improve the situation now that I'm aware that it could be a problem. Wouldn't it be just great to install a lift and start to see cracks start to spiderweb radiating from the posts. That would be an absolute disaster. I'm going to get a hammer drill and find some...

    best air compressor?

I just bought a 5hp Ingersoll-Rand 18+ cfm at 90psi at a great deal. I've always heard that IR was a decent make. I always have bought IR and CP air tools without regret. Same thing with my Miller Millermatic 211. I know that Hobart and Lincoln are just as good but I learned on a Miller and it...

    Home Lift Suggestions

Naw, musta said it wrong. I can't put a $50,000+ on a $10 dollar lift. A bit of exaggeration there.

Just signed up for a beginner welding class

I found the stick welding bead after bead so dull after a few minutes that I was ready to start welding pieces of equipment together. Now MIG welding got my complete attention. I really like Miller's. They seem easier for the first timer to get the settings right.

What if your concrete floor isn't 4+ inches?

You may be right. I might consult an engineer, seeing how I work at a University, the place is loaded with them of every kind.

    Home Lift Suggestions

I have several cars that are worth...well a lot and my lawn tractor. That ***** costs as much as the 356 I'm trying to put together. The notion of putting a 50+G car on a $10.00 lift just makes me feel stupid. A Mohawk is $5,700...doing the math makes this a no brainer in that it hurts my brain...

Really going to hate this thread

I'm talking to Morton Steel buildings right now....My problem is that everything starts basic and functional and the next thing I know is I have Japanese lanterns hanging around the perimeter.

I'm just not going to be able to help myself

Good god! I saw a Mohawk A7 lift and then looked at more than several others. The phrase "no comparison" does not do it justice. It's the difference between a rat and my brother-in-law. The Mohawk is $5,700.00 with most all the widjets, plus tax. What is that? 3 times a Chinese lift? I even...

Really going to hate this thread

Yeah, I'm now caught between dealing with my car garage and building a new steel one. Now bare in mind I'm clueless about this. I'm figuring 40'x40', unless someone else thinks there are better dimensions. This is just for me. No commercial shop. I want to put in a single *** kicking lift in...

What if your concrete floor isn't 4+ inches?

That sounds like my kind of common sense. It's true, I hadn't thought of that. If I was going to go 6"s, why wouldn't I go more, a lot more.

What if your concrete floor isn't 4+ inches?

So I haven't drilled the floor yet to see what the actual pad depth is. My concern is, what if it isn't over 4"s? It's just a normal garage and don't expect anything more than absolutely required. If I want a really good lift, like a Mohawk or whatever, what are my options? Could I cut out...

Big tag says "don't operate this on the pallet"

Wow! Thanks...this saves a ton of work. This pallet is made better and with better wold than most of the furniture in my house. I'm going to leave it on the pallet and see how it goes. Again..thanks!

I'm going for a Mohawk if I can swing it.

Ok, I'm looking for info on the Mohawk A7 and I saw somewhere that it needs 12"s of concrete pad???? I this true? I don't think NORAD has 12"s of concrete over them. I also can't seem to find all dimensions for the A7. Max height, width, weight, pad thickness, golden goodness.....not really a...
